Wow. I had no idea Green Day was this popular. Guess it depends on what circles you travel in. I don't think I have any friends who would even consider this game.

Re: Rock Band: Green Day
I'm really dissappointed I wanted a Rock Band 3 to address some of the issues i have with the interface and other minor problems and instead I get a group that I really don't care about. I would think they would start doing DLC packs instead of full games but I think MTV is pressuring Harmonix to do this because they think it will make more money.XBL: Countach

I think if you watch the movie High Fidelity with John Cusak, there's a mention of how SLF was an "influenced/how similar thier music is"(I forget the wording in the movie) on Green Day.Comment

Re: Rock Band: Green Day
Stiff Little Fingers are nothing like Greenday. They are a grassroots, punk as f*** band. Dirty, Raw, underproduced
now I can understand if someone said GD especially Billy Joe was influenced by them. that's the extent of it though. But the similarities are the nature of the punk scene. I could show you 10 bands that sound exactly the same lol.
I actually think they are quite dissimillar given the punk scene.
The comparison is very weak and it's possible BJA never even heard their songs - they formed greenday in 1989 (and were playing together well before that) during a time in California where the most influencial punk band was Operation Ivy (Tim Armstrong from Rancid was in the band) - many concider them the most influencial punk band of all time.
I think Greenday found a rather unique niche to fit in the california punk scene at the time and years later became a pop phenomenon. Their style has always been much lighter and easier in nature for people outside the punk scene to appreciate.
I don't think Greenday has ever ripped off anyone to be honest.Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

...just The Clash with that awful I Fought the Law cover. (Yes I know The Clash one was a cover too.) A punk band much more deserving of their own game, especially since we've only got one of their big songs. Them or The Ramones.Comment

Re: Rock Band: Green Day
I'm a big ramones fan...and I like the clash, but for a standalone game they should have done rock-band: punk rock and had a rancid, greenday, ramones, clash, pennywise etc.Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

Though there is no doubt that the Ramones were a very big influence on him.

I used to sing in a punk band in highschool that got a decent following. I was heavily into the punk scene from 1992-2001.

I guess I am bias. If I didn't know them I would not be into their music at all. I think the only reason I do like them is becasue I know them.

Re: Rock Band: Green Day
Older greenday music was pretty punk. Especially their music before Dookie. Rancid could have been as big as Greenday in my opinion, but they would not "sell out" if you know what I mean. Though Greenday did, because they needed a bigger production company. The one they had before could not get that music out fast enough to the people that wanted it. So they so called Sell out! It is funny I had another friend that was in that punk screen and he now hated Billie for that, pretty much everyone did. It was weird. I guess I understand why they did what they did.Comment

Hardcore genre fans love to follow the unknown band, once someone goes mainstream they're no longer cool.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment
