Re: Ghost Recon: Future Soldier
I've played the beta a good amount now and my overall impression of the game is lukewarm. I like some aspects of the game and dislike others, but nothing about it really screams must-own title to me. However, since multiplayer was never going to be the main draw for me anyway, it still might be worth checking out for the single player and co-op if that's done well. I'd definitely be renting or getting it at a discount if I do get it though.
I really miss the feel of games like Summit Strike. I played that a ton. I even played the original GRAW a decent amount even though it was a bit of a change in the series. Future Soldier still feels like Ghost Recon, but it's definitely is a hybrid of other shooters as well. I plan on giving the game some more burn during this beta period to see if it grows on me some more, but I'm not really all that excited about it at this point.Comment

Re: Ghost Recon: Future Soldier
I'm loving it so far. Perfect break from mw3. GameStop stopped giving out codes for 360 and I'm trying to get my buddy hooked up. Any ideas of what else I should tell him to get a code?
This game moves and paces much more like reality..soooooo feaking good!!Comment

Re: Ghost Recon: Future Soldier
Disclaimer: I've not played any of the R6/GR type games in many years. So I'm not really sure what fans of the series expect out of it.
Played it on into the morning hours, and while it's a little rough around the edges (it's a beta, after all), it seems like a solid game. I get why people are comparing it to COD as there's a lot of run n gunners out there right now, but that strategy really doesn't seem all that effective with the many ways one can be detected and show up as either a red dot on the minimap, or have their entire character outlined in red from behind walls. In particular, there's a heartbeat sensor attatchment that lights nearby enemies up on the minimap (I know MW had this too, but it seems much more useful here).
Lots of options for customizing your primary weapon. You spend attatchment credits gained by (I think) leveling up to buy them. Most are level locked as well.
I like how controlling the game's objectives results in in-game rewards. Defending an EMP generator for the required time causes it to go off on your opponents, disabling their electronics. Controlling an intel station grants your team detection around that area. And so on.
There's an anti spawncamp system in place where, if the game detects that one team is getting boxed in, it will give an option to spawn at an alternate deployment zone somewhere else on the map (with a verbal warning to the dominant team that the enemy is moving in on their flank). I like that way of handling it.
Jury's out for me on the cloaked sniper - it hasn't been overbearing so far, but I've only run across 1 or 2 at a time on a team who were using it. It can be dealt with, though - With an early level up bonus you can choose to unlock a thermal scope which allows you to see enemies who are cloaked or behind smoke.
Some of the guns seem to have some pretty extreme ranges. I've taken out several snipers using the above mentioned scope...with a supposedly short ranged MP7. Not sure if that should be possible.
Seen quite a few bugs so far, ranging from just not being able to get in a game, to not spawning when I should be able to, to seeing the Jesus pose when other players are trying to spawn in. It's just rough around the edges, but so far the only real bugs I've run across have been outside of the action.
That's about all I've got for now, planning on playing some more this weekend.Comment

Re: Ghost Recon: Future Soldier
I can't wait till the Saboteur gametype comes out. You go to the official Ubisoft forums and everyones whining how fast paced the game is.
Uh, hello you're playing Conflict which is essentially TDM with objectives. The dev's even explained it that way. Wait until we get this new gametype then we'll see the tactical gameplay that Ghost Recon is known for.Xbox LIVE GT: oALEXtheGREATo

I believe the enemy shows up on the minimap when they come in range to it."If you don't have anything good to say, say it often"- Ed the sockComment
