Re: Civilization V
Thanks for the link; I might be able to squeak by with my current hardware, especially since it's turn-based. We'll see, I guess...Comment

My Laptop should def. be able to play it, only thing I am a little worried about is my Video Card, I have a Geforce 9700M So hopefully that gets it done.My dog's butt smells like cookiesComment

Re: Civilization V
I've got it pre-loaded and ready for tomorrow morning. I can't wait to dig into it. Considering that I was still playing Civ4 up until I uninstalled it to make room for Civ5, and Civ3 until Civ4 came out, etc, I don't think I'll regret spending the money.Impact de Montréal

Re: Civilization V
lol I know, Civ is computer Heroin. I have been reading about some of the Features and so far I like everything. The biggest change is probably getting rid of the Transport Unit, I also heard of a potential game killer for online in that building the Great Library gives you a free Tech so you can pick Civil Service which allows you to expand at a much greater pace. Im sure this will get patched pretty quickly.
I am also praying one of my computers can play it, both are slightly above the minimum requirements so im hoping. Since Im unemployed and broke I would be SOL.My dog's butt smells like cookiesComment

Re: Civilization V
SO no aircraft carriers or transports at all? Nothing like stopping an assualt before it starts lol. I think the lack of SoDs will be major as well, since each combat unit takes its on tile. No more 20 stack units that are a given win everytime.lol I know, Civ is computer Heroin. I have been reading about some of the Features and so far I like everything. Re: Civilization V
Carriers are in and can hold fighters and bombers. Instead of transports now all ground units can embark on water themselves after researching the proper techs. When a unit embarks they turn into a defenseless civilian transport unit to traverse ocean/coastal tiles.www.simgamingnetwork.com Come join our leagues!

Re: Civilization V
I see they got rid of the Marine and Navy Seal, that kinda sucks but at least they still have the amphibious assault perk so we should be able to manually make Marines.
Some wonders that will be mandatory for me:
Angkor Wat: Culture cost of acquiring new tiles reduced by 75% in every city.
Chichen Itza:Length of Golden Ages increased by 50%.
The Great Library: 1 free Tech
The Pentagon: Gold cost of upgrading military units reduced by 50%.
The UN: Enables diplomatic Victory
It does look like that instead of having a city produce Military units and Culture units, one will have to choose what to focus on for most cities. I bet that the biggest cities will be able to accomplish both but the sheer number of buildings is astounding. It also does not look like the US will be the best civ in the game, Personally i like what France has.
Im gonna be up all night reading that manual

Re: Civilization V
From the IGN review it looks like they took out the separate religions? That's too bad....founding a religion, getting other nations to convert to it (voluntarily or forced by missionaries), and launching holy wars against the heathens was one of the best parts of that game.
(hope I'm not breaking TOS as I'm not getting into specifics, and it was a very important gameplay mechanic in CivIV)
Really like hearing that the Stacks of Doom are no more, though...nothing killed the large scale of the game more than seeing an entire army bunched up on one tile.Comment

Re: Civilization V
Big time excited for this, I play Civilization IV all the time. There's so many different ways to play the game, it's one of those that never gets old.
Sucks they took out the different religions, I enjoyed that part as a part of the game.NFL: Green Bay Packers
