Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops

Update: UK retailer GAME has some alleged details on Black Ops, claiming the game will take place in locations ranging "from Cuba to the Arctic and the jungles of Vietnam" (which matches up with the types of music that Activision was rumored to be looking to license for the game) and puts players in the shoes of a still nascent Elite Special Forces team while they participate in "off-the-record missions using unconventional weaponry to get the job done!"

Meanwhile, Treyarch's Studio Head, Mark Lamia, says in the official press release: "We can't wait for our community to experience Call of Duty: Black Ops. We have focused our entire studio on this game, with dedicated multiplayer, single-player and co-op teams creating the most intense, gripping and riveting experience possible for our fans on all fronts."

Nice!! kind of interesting to me. But my question is this going to be in current day like the MW series or is it taking place in the past?

I'm sure it will be in the past and if it is even better then we get some cool MGS3 type gameplay.

I never really liked the WWII gameplay but this is something I could get into since its goin to black ops instead of just frontline firefights.

It's not Game's info...I think it is correct though, this was all from a site who also happened to get the name right..so they weren't/aren't lying. I guess GAME is taking credit

            oh.

I was like come on man...pretty easy? I only play those games on veteran because it's a fun challenge. I need to add CoD Classic to my list though. No recharging health, zero health packs, and awful checkpoints.

Online, COD2 is still my favorite of the COD games. I like the level playing field.
COD2 still had one of my favorite missions with the battle on Hill 400, but I definently agree.

Hopefully Treyarch does better with Black Ops than they did WaW. WaW was ok to me but nothing special. However I did keep it longer than MW2.

World At War to me was pretty overated, but overtime I grew to love it. I never could get into Modern Warfare 2 as I think they tried to outdo themselves (IW) and completely outsmarted themselves in the end. Modern Warfare to Marden Warfare 2 made me feel like IW tried to re-invent the wheel.

One thing that worries me about that trailer is I get the Unisol vibe and that is just too far from reality. IW's decisions to make MW2 less realistic resulted in its demise...and I hope this doesn't make the same dumb decisions.

I don't think they will...WaW didn't do so well with how long people ended up playing copy catting CoD 4...and I am sure at least some of the people at Treyarch absolutely hate MW2 by now. I'm intrigued as well...some interesting stuff in the trailer that has been seen. Got Vietnamese soldiers, AUG HBar looking gun, AK 47, SR-71 and so on...so it looks like a Cold War setting as leaked focusing on Vietnam.

I can't really tell if I'm interested or not. Trailers like this, for me anyway, don't help me much. When I see actual gameplay (possibly at e3) then we'll see how good it will be. But I pretty much gurantee people who buy this won't be buying it for the single player experiance, rather, they'll buy it for the multiplayer which I hope isn't like WaW was, which was pretty much CoD4 but in a WW2 setting. Hopefully Treyarch can make it their own multiplayer. Maybe they'll encorperate the cover system from Quantum of Solace?

So-so teaser trailer in my opinion. I guess that's why they needed a good name like "Black Ops" - it always sounds good.
