Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops

The only way they could do it is if they changed the entire pay model for shooters, and its way too risky. They'd have to do something like sell the disc for 30 bucks then charge 5 dollars a month or something along those lines.

The one thing you can say for sure is Activision is quickly turning into EA via 5 years ago. EA used to have nothing but bad PR(in my opinion at least) and they've done a great job of turning that around. Whens the last time Activision had good PR? its all negative, all the time.

To play devil's advocate here, I can see the business side of it. As Steel5 said, they get money from sales and map packs, but they don't get any additional revenue from all the hours people play this game. It's been at the top of the Xbox live charts since it's come out. Perhaps they need to work something out with Microsoft/Sony, to get a bigger cut of the bounty since they are bringing so much business to their services.

In saying all that, if they try that this fall, then I believe that's an instant fail as it's too many other shooters to choose from, and it would have to be a gradual thing.

If they lowered the price and charged like 5 bucks a month, I could understand but I'm going to pay for XBL plus $60 and then have to pay to enjoy the XBL features.

Hopefully they run a public beta. They did for WAW, so I would assume they would for this game.

They aren't providing anything for those extra hours.

I'm sure they are being compensated just fine by MS for their exclusive DLC.

You know it's coming though. I'd say within a year or two. This is good news though. I hope I don't get sick of this one after a couple months like I did with MW2. I've never played a COD from Treyarch.

If they did charge to play then one game would totally crush them this year. Halo Reach. I think that may be one of the reasons they wont do it THIS year anyway.

And who else thinks that the Cross Bow explosing thing is going to be about as cheap as the Torque Bow for GEARS if its in Multiplayer?

I've heard people say they're more worried that the explosive cross bow will be the new noob tube lmao. I hope its closer to a torque bow, at least that took some skill.
