Should we be worried?

Mortal Kombat is easily the most important game for the franchise in recent memory, and yet there doesn’t seem to be much desire for direct fan feedback. I saw a live demo at E3 and I was easily impressed. However, I only saw what the developers wanted me to see. It was flashy eye candy with the devs using simplified controls to show all the crazy combos.

The first public demo for MK9 was at PAX last year, and though the response was generally positive, it lacked substance since there’s only so much time one could play. Seeing as Mortal Kombat releases in April, it’s alarming that we still know so little about the game. Not seeing in depth discussion from hardcore Mortal Kombat players could be a problem if you’re looking for significant information.

The game made the list for Evo 2011, which is the hardcore gaming convention/tournament in Las Vegas. If I'm not mistaken, it marks the first time an MK game has legitimately made the lineup, showing that there has been a serious focus on tournament-worthy gameplay. I can't FRIGGIN WAIT for this game. Not to mention all the extra stuff for us longtime MK players, the retro ninja costumes and what not.

Unrevealed Character Details:

Shang Tsung

• Alt. Costume: Old man version that looks badass.
• He has a grab where he steals a bit of your soul to replenish his health.

Sheeva

• Fatality: she rips off the opponent's skin, leaving the victim screaming in agony, and then she kicks 'em.

Sindel

• Fatality: she screams in one ear of the opponent, and the other half of the victim's head blows apart
• X-ray Super: kicks the opponent straight in the crotch, grabs one of their arms, and breaks the elbow backwards, and throws them.

Kabal

• Has his three specials from MK3

Sonya

• Alt. Costume: wears a cap, sunglasses, and white tank top.
• Fatality: does her leg grab move, holds up opponent with legs and rips 'em into pieces.

Kano

• Apparently likes to lick his knife

Raiden

• Alt. Costume: is black, and has different lightning effects around his body.

Shao hkan

• Has his taunts, big green hammer, and upwards diagonal shadow thrust move anti-air

New Stages:

• Creepy laboratory stage where people get dissected on, think that scene from Silence of the Lambs where there is a person hung from the ceiling and his arms are open like a bird w/his chest open & skin all stretched apart.
• Desert stage with lots of sand blowing in the wind
• An urban level of sorts, an earth city that is starting to be under the influence of the Outerworld.

Other Things!

• Fatality Practice Mode
• The Krypt returns, it's the place where you spend your hard earned points.

Easter Egg:

• Toasty and Forden are back
• Due to UE3/New Graphics Engine, now looks really good, and is really big, you can see his shoulders, it's quite amusing.
