Oblivion Gates are stupid easy if you do it right. All you gotta do is get the invisible spell and just run. you can take out each gate in about 20 minutes and you dont even have to kill anyone!

Doesn't change the fact that they were incredibly annoying. It's what stopped me from finishing my second playthrough. I put a LOT of time into my first playthrough, and then restarted as a more stealthy character. However, once I started the gates again, I just didn't want to have to go back through all of them, so I put the game away.

I've not played the game in forever, but I recall there only being like 4 or 5 Oblivion Gates that were required to go in for the main story. They're really not a problem unless you go around looking for them and entering them for no reason

I didn't even need the spell. Just weaved my way through cracks in the walls and up hills you weren't supposed to get to. 5-10 mins easy.

They shot that article down last year. Then they went on to say they don't expect a TES game in a very long time. Bethesda is always secretive when it comes to their games, but I wouldn't expect an announcement this year at E3.

Bethesda Softworks is listed at E3, not Bethesda Game studios. I don't know if that really means anything or not. they could publish their own game this time.

Every year I'm waiting for an announcement for TES: V. I put in thousands of hours into Morrowind and Oblivion combined. Two of my all time favorites.

Yeah, I was really hoping we would hear something today. This thread may be for nothing. Sorry.

I can't speak for him, but for me the way the world suddenly just exploded in size from when you first land, the depth of the story ( the main story was a bit cliched, I suppose, but still good. And the whole story, through books, etc really made you feel invested), the way new areas actually felt new and not rehashed, the mechanics felt solid, etc. All that combined to make it a deep and fun experience.

In terms of the flow of the story and towns/regions, I enjoyed it more than Oblivion. I thought Oblivion's main story sucked. It was the guild stuff that made it interesting (particularly Dark Brotherhood and Fighters Guild for me).

Either way, TES is one of the handful of game series that is a no-hesitation, instant buy for me. Whenever they actually do announce a new one, I'm already sold.

                      That was how I felt.

Prior to Morrowind there was a sliding scale:

Deep, fully interactive, but awful graphic representation (Black Isle's Fallout and Baldur's Gate) to Huge but more or less non-interactive (GTA 3).

Morrowind combined the "do anything you want" of Fallout with next gen graphics.

Morrowind was the first and only game I've played where you can kill any character whenever you want, beat the game in 15 minutes, and travel to completely different parts of the world within 20 minutes.

Just walking north, south, or east in Morrowind took you to environments you hadn't seen in any game, let alone one game.

The experience of playing Morrowind in 2002 will always rank in my top 5. The game may not be as good as what's available now but for it's time it was amazing.

good post thanks for answering my question.

What did you mean by beat the game in 15 mins? that can't be possible to do right?

                            Ditto.

First time I played it I had to go get that box for the main story line.

I walked too far and found myself in some hills and suddenly an ash storm kicked in and I totally got lost. I wondered around for a few minutes and could not figure out where the hell I was or where to go.

I didn't really know how to use the map or anything yet - so I had to restart my game. I finally got it figured out, though.
