A little part of gaming history died when the final You Don't Know Jack episode went live on Jellyvision's website. Fortunately, if you thought that was the end of the long run for the classic quiz games, then you don't ... well, you know. As originally heard on the Giant Bomb podcast and later confirmed on the official site, Jellyvision is partnering up to THQ to bring the series back yet again.
This news makes me quite happy.

yeah, I heard about it in the bombcast, and I hope it turns out well. I enjoyed the YDKJ formula, plus I remember it having some good comedic writing.

I'm always down for trivia games, too bad the genre is largely ignored. The few games out don't really get the support needed to keep content fresh. Even for all the hype MS put into the live 1 vs 100 shows, they still recycled content and haven't uttered one word about it for months now.

Luckily I found this thread again:

Find in-depth gaming news and hands-on reviews of the latest video games, video consoles and accessories.

Unlike the Wii and DS versions, the PS3 and 360 games will support online multiplayer. Every version of the game will include "classic quiz modes" in "DisOrDat" and "Jack Attack," not to mention new modes like "Wrong Answer of the Game" wherein, presumably, the goal is to get questions wrong. We're especially glad to hear about that new mode, considering YDKJ losses are really our forte.
AWESOME. Joystiq says January 25th, but since that's an old article, Amazon says it'll be out February 8th. I've already preordered. Also, here are some shots I found at TrueAchievements.com:

I'll let you know tomorrow, heh. It's still got the screw, it's still got Dis Or Dat, and it's still got the Jack Attack. I don't know what else I'd ask for!

I picked it up and played episode 1 with my girlfriend. I loved it. Unfortunately this is the first time I have ever played You Don't Know Jack and don't know much of anything about it. But FWIW I had a blast. Only thing I can say so far after 20 minutes of play is that I was kind of annoyed that some of the excessive talking could not be skipped.

That's because it's part of the game too. This is more than just a trivia game that's a bit off the wall. It's a game that completely sells out for the laugh every time a question comes on the board. It's got a great sense of humor about itself, and it shows in the questions, the play mechanics, and the categories/gameplay concepts. I think without that extra talking this game would be very vanilla, and wouldn't be as popular/good.

Granted, that's just my take. I also had The Ride (YDKJ4) that came with a CD of all of the post-game commercials, and I used to listen to it on a loop because I loved it so much.

How does online work? Do you still play it in its usual episodic format? I ask because with no randomness it would seem like there's going to be a replay value of zilch after about a week (except for the fact that they'll probably add new episodes in DLC form).

I know the episode format is part of YDKJ (and as far as local games go I would prefer they kept it that way), but it's just not going to translate well to online IMO.

I've got no idea how online works. I don't actually have the game yet.

*shrug* I imagine it would look for the earliest episode all players haven't played, and go with that one. Past that, I'm not sure.

I am flat-out LOVING this game. It is just like I remember it from the late 90's. I think it is hilarious and challenging at the same time. A great game at a favorable price.

I love the twist of the Wrong Answer of the game. I've caught it a couple of times after one of my friends screwed someone and they got it right, ending the question, so I couldn't ring in and get it.
