Re: Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning
Reckoning DLC Goes to Sea
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning will be receiving its first DLC adventure on March 20. Titled The Legend of Dead Kel, the adventure takes players to the island of Gallows End, full of pirate skeletons and other island-themed baddies. It will sell for 800 Microsoft Points on Xbox Live and for $9.99 on the PlayStation Network, Steam, and Origin.
Gallows End provides a large explorable area, a new main questline and numerous side quests, new enemy types, several new dungeons, eight new armour sets, eight new shields, and eighteen new unique weapons. Players will be able to claim an entire keep for their own, which serves as player housing and is staffed by servants who provide services and side quests.
The main quest runs around four hours, excluding the wide range of side-quests to take care of along the way. The most notable of The Legend of Dead Kel's contributions is Gravehal Keep, a housing fixer-upper. Like your stashes elsewhere in Amalur, this is your go-to personal HQ in Gallows End. Unlike the others, though, you can build new facilities within Gravehal Keep for various bonuses. Creating a stable gives you access to pets, for example. Taming a bear and spider gives you a health boost and improved poison resistance, respectively, and feeding them earns you even better buffs.
Eventually you'll add an armory, hire a painter, scout, librarian, and diplomat to carry out various activities to benefit your character. Everything in the Keep comes back to you. It's representative of your growing strength, both visually as you pump money into it and in the rewards it pays out.
When The Legend of Dead Kel ends, you're put in a place of such extraordinary power that it opens up a few options for additional expansions. If the follow-ups are as substantial, enjoyable, and memorable as this, then keep 'em coming.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

Re: Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning
Finished the main quest after 82 hours. Great game and still a lot of stuff left to do, since I just focused on the main quest and final faction quest line in the last 2 regions. I'm hoping the patch coming adds a challenging difficulty, because my character is stupidly powerful. Relentless Assault + Vengeance + Bloodlust = hilarity: A Tuatha shot an arrow at me, and it ricocheted back to it off my head and did a 15K crit.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

Re: Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning
I absolutely do not want them to turn this into an MMO. Monthly fees, hardcore players ruining it, loss of storyline, weak endgame...and if I want a fantasy MMO, WOW is already out there. Also, I'm currently paying for but not playing The Old Republic, and it's eating on me.
I saw a study which found that mp gaming is not as popular as you might think. The majority of gamers polled prefer single player experiences. I much prefer single player. I get slaughtered in Call of Duty. Getting killed 20 times to my 2 or 3 kills just isn't fun. I wish I had hours every day to memorize maps and hone my skills. Sorry, got off topic, but NO, PLEASE NO KoA becoming a freaking MMO...I am loving the single player experience and don't want the pressure I for some reason feel when I sign up for MMOs.Comment

Re: Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning
But it's certainly going to be an MMO. Most of the foundation of the single player game (KoA) is built in MMO style like WoW...Last edited by SoulAssassin; 03-01-2012, 02:58 PM.XBL GT: SoulAssassin925Comment

Not sure why I like KOA so much, but I have fun when I play and it doesn't seem like work. And I can jump in after not having played for a few days and not feel lost.Comment
