    Re: Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

I finished Dead Kel and liked it a lot. I think it was a nice change of visual themes and it had a decent plot line that wrapped itself up with an interesting conclusion. I need to go back to the island and see if I missed any special weapons. I think part of my disappointment with the weapons is that I just purchased a Chakram that does 100 damage after completing the House of Ballads. I didn't find anything for a finesse build that was better than that. I went from level 16 to 19 while on the island. For $10 I was pretty happy with it.

Legend of Dead Kel DLC is awesome. Well worth the money in my opinion. Adds a nice chunk of very well done content. The story and characters are great, and the atmosphere and visuals of the island are great too. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys Reckoning.

I have to say, that for as much as I loved Skyrim, I think I may be enjoying this more. Granted, i've only got 16 hours of playtime as opposed to the 200 or so I had in Skyrim, so it's still fairly fresh in my mind.

My only issue so far is that now that i'm leveling up more, the game is getting fairly easy. Still a blast though.

For those that said it's too easy (and are playing the PC version)...

          1. EXP gain is down to about 40%

          2. Doubles the damage the heroes receives

          3. Halves the damage the hero does

          4. Introduces soft cap for very high player damage

          5. Implements extra damage mechanism against heroes with extremely high hp

          6. Utilizes minimum damage per hit, regardless of armor/resistances

          7. Doubles the mana cost of the hero's spells and abilities

          8. Reduces the sell value of items as well as the gold found to one third of vanilla

          9. Increases a paramter called "Attack Weight" that allows more multiple attackers and stronger simultaneous special attacks at the same time (changed from 14 to 100)

          10. All healing potions are at 50% effectiveness; health regeneration is only at 20% effectiveness

          11. Game speed at 115%

          12. Fatepoint gain slowed down

I knew that by the time I finished ME 3 there would be some DLC for this game. Time for some more Amalur.

New downloadable content for Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is slated to arrive later this month. Entitled "Teeth of Naros," it has players exploring the land known as the Teeth of Naros, where they will "encounter the Kollossae, a devout race of giants, and uncover the mysteries of their faith."

The DLC will feature the magical, floating city of Idylla, 20 side quests, dungeons and new enemies to fight. And, of course, there will be some fresh loot, including Twists of Fate, armor sets and weapons. Teeth of Naros will hit Xbox Live, PSN, Origin and Steam on April 17 for $10.

Dead Kel was great value for me. I was able to get 18 hours of out of it, and just a few days from now Naros will be out.

                    Re: Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

Guess I should just play the DLC. I was hoping for a patch by now to increase the difficulty and maybe a higher level cap, but judging by Curt's comments, it's going to be a while longer.

Nothings been abandoned, we've just run into situations and hurdles we cannot control or manipulate, and we're trying to create something that serves the players and IP first, and it's not being met with friendly responses.
It's a challenge and next to impossible to be open and up front about ANYTHING relating to creation of content, DLC to patching, when you do not control when, how, why and where content can be published.

We partnered with EA to publish this game, they handled development of the product from a cost perspective, they also control all facets of content creation as it relates to Reckoning.

They have many more higher priorities than 38 and Reckoning, and that's certainly understandable, even if it's not optimal for us, or for players who purchased Reckoning.
What I am saying is that the deal with EA, to publish Reckoning, contained 2 post launch DLC pieces of content, nothing else.

Anything post launch OTHER than the 2 DLC packs we were contractually obligated to create, is outside the scope of the commitment they made to us.

Just got back to this after ME3...

That's a first for me...COMING BACK to a RPG and actually getting back immersed....(thank god for a Journal that updates itself lol)

The only thing this game needs is more character development IMO, it stands out even more coming over from ME3....and making you decisions have a little more weight...

I bet the next version of this game is going he classic status....there's not much to improve on.

I'm playing it now and am enjoying it a lot. The DLC still has what I consider the games two big weaknesses, combat being too easy and too many Fed Ex quests. The main quest, the personality of the NPC's and the setting/environment is really solid though.

Like the Joker Amalur made me break my one rule: buying DLC so close (within a few months) of launch. I purchased teeth two days ago...and I like it. I like that the DLC offers me a coherent story, interesting location and some great artwork. If I wanted to complain I would say I wish these interesting locations were part of the original game, but I am cool with supporting the company in hopes of a sequel.

Teeth has that greek mythology feel although when one character asks me to storm a tower he really means "explore another cave"

It is a mix of God of War combat, diablo loot, and WoW like MMO world. Also, look at witcher 2. Best RPG around.
