    Re: Battlefield 3

I like it. I love the fact that the game runs so smoothly on my 1 1/2 year old rig. The game looks fantastic and the gunplay is excellent. This game will be a ton of fun playing with a team that works together tactically and uses comms.

With that being said... there are a ton of bugs in the beta. The getting-trapped-underground-thing happened to me way too often. The scope glint off of the sniper rifles is a bit too exaggerated, I think. I did have a few instances of COD knifing, where I'm pumping bullets into a guy and he just runs up and offs me with his +2 uber-sword-of-black-death. It's annoying, but I guess I am used to it by now...

The only thing that concerns me is the unlocks. I know people love unlocks, but I can already predict my future...

Oct 25th... I am going to pick this up on my lunch break. I'm going to get home at 4:30. Since it's Tuesday, I have to go to my spin class at 5:30 (losing those last 10 lbs is always the hardest). I'll get back home at 7PM. Have dinner while installing the game. Jump on around 8 PM. And then boom... I will be quickly murdered by some guy brandishing the best sniper rifle with a heat-seeking, thermal scope.

And my reaction... "The game is 7 hours old... How are you a level 35?" Time to go back to Red Orchestra.

The flashlight will really become a great tool when people start unlocking the IR scope. It happened a few times with me and it totally blinded me as it should have.

As for a tactical light blinding someone in the day, well my tactical light in the army could not do it but that was over 3 years ago. I like when people use it because they become easy kills for me.

You know, I never thought about it that way. I'll have to try that, although not many seem to be using the IR scope.

Like BC2, you can still snipe people across the map with your shotgun. I use it in the subway when I'm defending, it's instant stopping power.

Haha.. I feel the same way. Like I will have to choose quickly b/w BF3, MW3, and Uncharted 3 of which will be my favorite online. I obviously can't play them all b/c then I would be sooo far behind in each one. If I pick ONE, I may have a chance of getting a few cool attachments and unlocks before people just start dominating. Sad but true. Although, I'll probably just play all three and enjoy each for their differences.. while getting owned in each by the diehards.

This is the only thing that annoys me, you should hear some footsteps within a reasonable amount, especially when they are "running" up to you... walking is one thing.

Though maybe you do hear them when they run, and they are just walking, stealthy buggers.

I tried my wireless Xbox controller in the beta and got PWNED.....as others have said the mouse accuracy is almost mandatory for the PC version playing online. I do plan to try the controller again with the campaign mode once the retail hits though. I also struggle using a keyboard, I'm going to order a G19 and see if that might help a little, it was/is time for a new one anyway.

                          Re: Battlefield 3

In what's starting to sound as inevitable as death and taxes, it seems someone's managed to hack the Battlefield 3 beta currently underway, unlocking alternative game modes, namely support for up to 128 simultaneous guys running through the streets of a certain famous French municipality, guns-a-blazin'. That's the...shall we say intriguing news.
Word is, hackers discovered a way to fiddle the player cap on Operation Metro, one of the maps in the beta (also shown at E3 this summer), raising it from 32 to 128. The map itself involves ye olde gunplay between U.S. Marine Corps and Russian Spetsnaz (special forces) units staged throughout central Paris. I know, some developers will do anything to get the Eiffel Tower in shot, but then this isn't a referendum on DICE's absurdist theater license.
The bad news, is that if you partake of this ill-gotten feature, you may see your EA Origins account suspended, locking you out of not just the Battlefield 3 beta, but everything else—legitimate or no—associated with the account.
