I love BF3's audio, and love playing it using my 7.1 system, but if my wife's trying to game too I'll go to a surround headset and it works really well.
I've owned TBs and I have a new set of Astro A40's with the Mixamp. Here's the headset thread, and I'll post my review from the thread below here: http://www.operationsports.com/forum...adsets-24.html
My review from the thread:
Guys, I got my Astro A40 wired set w/Mixamp last Wednesday. Here are some thoughts on it.
Order process went fine overall. I was having issues trying to order from their site so ordered from their ebay store. I wanted to up the shipping to Blue instead of Ground, but no biggie. Still got them before Thanksgiving weekend.
Packaging is really cool. A sleeve covers a fold out box that holds everything, comes with quality wires...everything is nice quality. The headset is very well constructed and durable. Fits quite comfortably too on my big ol' noggin. The Mixamp is beautifully simple and high quality construction.
Soundwise, the rig is great. To compare it to the TB Earforce Deltas/XP500's, the TB seems a little brighter sounding, almost hyper-high end clarity which is good for shooters especially. The TB's have decent bass presence, but due to wireless they can distort and compress just a bit during explosions or bass-heavy signals. Also, again a wireless thing, they have a bit of static here and there, and can cut out when our son is online on his pc.
The A40's seem a little smoother to my ears; I kinda missed the TB's high-end openess, but the Astros smoothly extend down to the bass very well. These seem 'meatier' and stronger-sounding, and are not fatiguing after hours of use. Zero static, zero cut-out due to the wired connection. Also, no battery concerns

The mic is sensitive but works very well. The thing is so sensitive I had it swung all the way up, so it's pointing at the ceiling, parallel to the headband, and I forgot it was still on. I was put into a new lobby in MW3 and made the comment aloud to my wife in the room (in a low voice) "Mann...the matchmaking still sucks. The whole other team is prestigers" to which I immediately heard in my ear "Yeah, matchmaking still sucks but whatcha goin do?"

Another neat feature is you can use any headset through the Mixamp (I'll have to try my Bose headphones one night), though you won't be mic'd. Dolby Headphones works really well on both the A40 Mixamp and the TB Deltas/XP500's. It's not as ideal for localization as a real 5.1/7.1 audio system is, but it's effective and you can play it loud without disturbing others or hearing the whirr of your 360. Another plus is that I can seem to hear enemies approaching better using these headsets.
Overall, the A40 system is great. Spendy? Indeed...but I was happy to find it's worth the money. Not plasticy or cheap in any sense, very good performance, looks cool, comfortable, zero performance shortfalls, plus the cup covers are magnetic and you can bling out with custom covers if that's your thing.
