Downloading AK now. Haven't played in a few weeks. Hopefully AK will get me interested in the game again.

Edit: Anyone else having issues joining a game?

"AA: Slightly increased the damage of the AA against infantry"

Got the powerline working, and back in business! You guys you should see my ATV driving.

Of my deaths on the new maps, I would say that 60% came from that damnable gunship

And does anybody else constantly get the "there was a service error" message when trying to download?

Been trying since yesterday. It starts off fine...Then I'll leave for work, or leave it on overnight, or while I play XBox and I get an error message and have to start all over.

Extremely frustrating.

This worked for me as well, I don't think it has ever worked for me through the menu in the game.

Yup.

I got the routine down pat now. Lol:

I sign in.
Go to PS store
Hit Add Ons
Hit New Releases
Hit Armored Kill
Hit the download icon.
Hit the next download icon.

It starts up and I just leave it there and not do ANYTHING else. Then I go about my day or night (sleeping).

Then Ill turn my TV on, all excited to play, and get the error message.


EDIT: Got the add on! Did the same process except this time I left the TV, hit download in background, and backed out of the PS store into the main menu. Waited...and voila! Downloaded.

Hit play Battlefield 3. And it takes me to an update screen for a patch, which apparently will take 2.5 hours to download.

Thought the patch came in with the add on that I downloaded. Not separately. :banghead:

I think the new maps are beautiful BUT having 12 on 12 is pretty anemic imo. The gunship is ridiculous which ruins any remaining joy you have playing on these maps. For me it's a 5 out of 10 at best.

You know, I completely overlooked the gunship. Thats probably another reason they increased the effectiveness of stingers.

Is it really that tough to bring down?

With people running Stingers and Javelins, in addition other aircraft and I would think it wouldn't be too hard to take down in a short period of time, limiting its effectiveness.

I haven't played yet. But it seems like it could be one of those things where if nobody is working together and focusing on making sure to keep it out of the sky, then you will get raped. But for those making a concerted effort to keep the gunship down, it wouldnt be much of a problem.

Doesn't seem like it would be a problem for OS .

I haven't had a chance to play yet either but from watching videos online, the gunships look pretty easy to take down with a jet. It seems Air superiority is a must in these maps.

However, I've heard that the gunship is a beast in RUSH mode. I can imagine how hard that would be to defend an MCOM with the gunship raining down on you.

AC-130 can be taken down. The only part of the unbalance that I can see is the amount of vehicles that you get to defend with. If DICE threw the defenders an AA gun or one Flanker it would make a big difference. Looking back at it I guess its no different than defending on Kharg or Caspian where the attackers have the overwhelming vehicles on Rush.

We successfully defended a couple of bases and it was against some good players. I think Jenkins and I were running stingers and Paper had the SMAW. We got pushed quickly to the last base and I finally got into our Frogfoot. I didn't get into a circling match with the A-10 pilots which would have meant free reign for the C-130. As soon as I downed the A-10 I concentrated all fire on the C-130.

I might be in the minority but I like the challenge and suspense that the C-130 brings on the defending side.

Was watching some more videos of AK and RUSH mode looks really intense.

So, does someone actually pilot the AC-130 or just use the gunner ?

I'm purchasing Premium tomorrow and will download over the weekend. I likely won't be playing until Sunday night.

I just don't see the point in getting on, when everyone is playing something I don't have.
