Re: Battlefield 3
It's an FPS on a console, there will always be people who play the game in a way you don't like. I don't care what game it is.
I guess it is tough for me to understand the whole fan boy mentality over a game. The pace of BF3 seems pretty fast to me.Comment

Re: Battlefield 3
It is not being a fanboy when there is a fact about the general population and how they play in a game or platform versus another.
Now his comment was in snide, but you are the exception, not the rule with the average console FPSer. Which are high octane run and gunners as a general population. Very, VERY few use tactical or squad based action in console shooters.
I spend gobbles of time on both console and PC (with the same games on both platforms)... and there is a stark contrast between the two. Not that it is a good or bad thing, but something that just is.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

Re: Battlefield 3
Is anyone else really disappointed in the beta?
1. Is there a way to view the controls?
2. What's the point in having a health pack when you pretty much get killed after one shot every time?
2B. How do you even use the health pack?
3. How the hell does everybody find me? Lol, I'm great at COD and I'm pretty good at Gears and Halo and stuff like that, so it's not like shooters are new to me, but I can't even see people on my screen before I get killed.
I was hoping this could give me a game to play until NBA 2k12 gets here, but I'm really disappointed so far.

Re: Battlefield 3
This isn't Halo. It's not "camping" when you're playing defense. What I love about this game is ID'ing enemies is more difficult. You're wise to cover your advance when attacking and taking a strategic position on defense. If we were running around with real guns everyone of us would be moving SLOW or prone in some corner.
I think in time the running and gunning will slow down as people learn how to play. Especially a map like Metro when it's dark and confusing where watching your flanks is huge. Staying alive for squad mates to spawn on you is also huge and you can rack up tons of points simply by staying alive. If you only have 5 kills but die once and support your team and take/defend objectives you can rack up points and be a great team mate.PSN: JISTIC_OS

Re: Battlefield 3
After spending some significant time with the game last night, I have to say that I am more impressed than I thought I would be. You know the feeling you got when you first saw a next gen game at the store? Well, that is the feeling I got when picked up this beta. It looks almost too real.
I picked up a Sniper Rifle off of someone and oh my I love the Sniping it feels and looks amazing. Oh, and as far as the whole "camping" thing goes, I love how the scope glistens if you are observant you can spot someone who is camping.
I love the whole art style as well in terms of the ribbon overlays. It is is bright, crisp, futuristic, and clean.
Agreed with the poster who talked about people not spotting, but I am sure they will learn.
Very eager to play more tonight.Last edited by LingeringRegime; 09-30-2011, 12:55 PM.Comment

Low and slow for a few games. Don't focus on kills and focus on situational awareness. Where is your squad? Are you flanks secure? Are you exposed? Don't take an obj by yourself or you will die. Don't sprint down the middle of the map firing away or you will die. Use cover, concealment, advance slowly the game isn't timed. Find your squad and stick with them. One good squad in this game can win almost every match single handedly.PSN: JISTIC_OS

1. There should be a way in the options, I personally did not look.
2. Headshots yes, but you can absorb a couple hits, while if you have a good squadmate, he is dropping packs that auto heal.
2B. Can not heal yourself, squadmates packs heal you.
3. You are probably being spotted, thus there is a red arrow above you, and people are seeing you.
You mention UT and SoF, both are excellent games, UT still one of my favorites. But this game is a different breed. Not arcade run and gun, it must be played with more of a tactical approach, does not have to be 100%, but adaption is key.
There is UT3 which is still a blast to play, on the consoles and PC.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

But when you get used to it, it is amazing.
The scope shimmering is why I try to set up my prone with the sniper rifle and the glare from the sun to my back, that way it is harder for someone to spot me, all they feel is "pop". And they can not see me really due to the glare in their eyes. But if they spotted me correctly (using the spot command when they get a look at me, instead of trying to shoot me with an assault rifle and missing 95% of the time from 300 yards, while I am zoomed in and "pop"), or came from behind, I am toast.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

Re: Battlefield 3
This is probably why i hate it so far....i cant take this hide and seek stuff
I also hate sniping in any shooter and this game seems to appeal more to it. I cant have fun sitting looking down a scope the whole gameSLIDERS SUCKComment

Re: Battlefield 3
What does this mean? I noticed that a couple of times a few red arrows would pop up on my map but I don't really understand why it happens. I was just laying down behind a wall trying to spy on the other team and figure out where they were going and got a kill when someone tried to ambush me but that's been about my only success so far lolⓋ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

Statements like that are so general and biased. I don't play COD that way at all, and I love the game. Same with the guys I play with.

Sent from here to there.I've heard this "patience is a virtue" junk all my life. I'm happy to say I have no virtue, no scruples, and no desire to wait too long for anything. In my humble opinion instant gratification takes too long!
