Re: Battlefield 3
I must say there is nothing worse than going on a kill spree and murdering 10 people in a row, run out of ammo and switch to pistol, get another kill or two, then running over to a support guy and spamming request ammo button just for them to pay you ZERO attention. Thus kill streak is ended due to no ammo.
That is the story how my 13 kill streak ended lolComment

There are flashlights out there that can be quite blinding in daylight however BF3 use of flashlights is kinda of far from real life in my opinion. Mainly if you are using a tactical flashlight that can blind in broad daylight it is probably over 600 lumen. However if you used a 600> lumen tac light indoors in the dark it would absolutely destroy your dark adaption. If BF3 was a bit more realistic in this regard your flashlight should really brighten up everything in its path but your peripheral vision should really suffer from lack of dark adaption. Almost like a tunnel affect indoors. I think that would be a fair compromise.
The brightness at it's brightest is in the focal retina. With the optics keeps it on the focus and the surroundings stay pretty low lit with your eyes.
But we never keep it constantly on. A) batteries would wear out too fast (10-15 minutes on high lumen lamps) B) gives away your position.
They are there to temporarily blind with a quick flash in dark environments to "stun" the tango.Last edited by EnigmaNemesis; 11-07-2011, 07:54 PM.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

Re: Battlefield 3
Good video showing what the tact light would look like during day. I am sure there are brighter models but this is just to show it is still slightly over done during day light outside views. Now I do agree they should not change it from a game perspective I think it works.
Edit: 4:40 is where he uses light

Re: Battlefield 3
I hate the final part of Damavand Peak on Rush. You have nowhere to go except the 2 side tunnels and the main entrance. Way too linear to do anything. Conquest on Operation Metro is terrible too, it might be the Nelson Bay of BF3 for me. I quit that map every single time. I'm about to quit every time it's conquest/Operation Metro now.Comment

That's one small thing that drives me insane. If you want to be my gunner, you better be an engineer and ready to repair if we ever lose health.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

Re: Battlefield 3
Not always. Depends on the build of the lamp. My 800 lumen Surefire focuses the beam where there is very little side bleed compared to conventional lamps, and there are special optics we can wear to cut down on the vision effect.

Kinda of wish they had a limited battery and required managing. A strobe option would be cool too.Comment

I agree that it comes down to use. Most SWAT teams would only turn on the tac light right before room clearing. If a person in real life used a tac light like in BF3 they would run out of battery in minutes (like you said) and would realistically shine a beam in dark areas for over almost 100 yards. However in BF3 these extremely high powered lights blind like 600 lumen lights, never run out of battery, and only shine 15 feet. However using a tac light for more than 30 seconds will effect peripheral vision dark adaption, especially in close quarters.
