My bad, good thing you corrected me. I'll probably be taking a break from this game until that 60$ thing comes out. I won't pay for Close Quarters, I'll just buy the Battlefield package thing and get it then. I might be on periodically, but I want to beat the campaign and do some assignments. Also, Max Payne and Ghost Recon might take up some of my time. A break in summer is ok, once September hits, I'll be ready to get back into competitive mode.

The previously rumored Battlefield Premium service will set players back $60 when it launches next month.
That’s according to online retailer CoolShop, who has the code listed at a £34.96 price tag – around $60 – with an expected release date of June 29. The product description reads:
“BF3 Premium Service is 1 code in a box to give the consumers early access to the BF3 DLC expansion packs – Back to Karkand (already released), Close Quarters (releasing June), Armoured Kill (releasing Sept) and End Game (releasing December).”
According to MP1st a fifth unannounced expansion titled Aftermath is also set to release this year. The site suggests that the DLC is set to release before the end of this year and the previously announced End Game expansion will be pushed back to 2013.
        Battlefield Premium offers the following:
        • 20 Maps
        • 20 New Weapons
        • 10+ New Vehicles
        • 4+ New Game Modes
        • 30+ Assignments
        • 20+ Dog Tags

The service is expected to be revealed during EA’s E3 press conference, and will be launched sometime in June. The price is a little steep just to get all five DLC packs for free, the real kicker will be the free items that the service offers players.
Would you pay $60 for the service?
$60 is steep for DLC, for sure, but considering the price of individual map packs alone I'd say it is a decent deal overall. Honestly I'd rather have a different game if I am going to spend $60; unfortunately COD already set the price point for new maps at $15 a pack (which I personally think is too high, but that's just my opinion).

I think forcing people to pay for all this extra stuff is taking the DLC craze a bit too far, especially given the prices. Consider this: four maps at $15 is equivalent to a quarter of the game's initial selling price. Is four maps alone (even including a couple minor extras) really equivalent to one-fourth of the entire game? To me it isn't, and I've had issue with this price/scheme since COD started it. Sadly corporations (and I blame publishers more than anything) are legally obligated to maximize profits and as the market is set, we will continue to see this sort of consumer wallet-grab until the well dries up and people refuse to buy.

Agreed. But this is EA we're talking about at the end of the day.

Here is another blurb about the new DLC and "season pass".

I don't do the conversions, but it might be a little cheaper than $60, and it may be available next week.

Oh it says $49.99 at the bottom. I thought it was $60? I was buying it regardless, but at least I know I'll be saving money.

I was hesitant with that $60.00 price tag. Considering that most of us have the first DLC already, it wasn't worth the extra money for dress up camo. With the confirmation of the 5th DLC at $49.99 you are saving money if you plan on buying all the map packs. Definitely buying this now.

I just hope that BF3 has the staying power for the whole year. DICE needs to step up their patch game during the year. I would have hoped they released a small patch for at least the Dart Glitch.

What drives me nuts about the DLC's by the time you buy them all and spend all the money, bf4 will be out, and none of what you purchased a month ago will be accessible! Your forced again to buy the new game (which I do without hesitation), spending another 60$ minus the future 60$ you'll spend on future DLC. its a vicious cycle that will never end...

If I had to guess, the next title would be a Bad Company 3, but even that won't be out for a long time. Dice makes these games to last and they almost always have a long shelf life. It's not a game with an annual release.

I wasn't implying it would be out "soon".

Edit: just voicing my frustration with EA and them sucking money out of us year in and year out. Same with sports titles. I buy multiple titles every year from them. I know that's my call, just calling BS on DLC. its becoming a monster that will be hard to stop.

I don't mind paying the extra $ for DLC, especially for a game that I play a lot and really enjoy, like BF3. The DLC to me is like getting extra innings at a baseball game or an overtime or two in the NHL playoffs or in the NFL.

If you think about how much bang for the buck you are getting out of a video game compared to other entertainment like sports (3-4 hours) movies (2-3 hours), concerts (2hours) and then lump in beer, food, popcorn, parking etc, the value you get out of a DLC is enormous.

I mean look at our battlelogs and see how many hours of entertainment we are getting for an initial investment of $60 + $15 for BTK. I'm at 234HRs logged on BF3 and I'm on the low end from other guys here. That time is an incredible value. For $75, you aren't going to get that kind of long term entertainment out of any other entertainment medium.

As far as buying sports games year after year, just do what I do and skip every other year. Especially if you are a franchise mode player like me. I hate having to start a franchise all over again. I like to see my draft picks develop and see if I can keep the team competitive year in and year out.

I hear you and agree with everything you say about hours invested compared to actually cost. But for a few extra maps and guns, I mean at some point the next game is going to be coming out and your going to buy that next. Then buy the DLC's for that which were already slated to come out before the initial game is even released. Idk just such a gimmick to me (and I know, I'm the fool who bitches but also buys then. Gives me my right to bitch).

Sports games on the other hand, I cannot use your method unfortunately. I'm almost exclusively (fps too)a multiplayer player.
