Oh yes! The joys of playing with random Dbags on the streets of Los Santos. And the knowledge that now there could be up to 30 of them, rather than 12 or 16 on last gen GTA5, hahaha

              Re: Grand Theft Auto V

I have not been in any rush to complete the missions in the PS4 game this time around. Trevor has not even made his appearance yet, and instead I have been trying to improve all of Michael and Franklin's skills. I have Michael at 100% or close to 100% in all categories except flying and under water breathing. But Franklin still needs work in not only flying and under water breathing, but also shooting and his strength skills. I am disappointed that as of right now Franklin can not play tennis to improve his strength (I was able to level up Michael in no time by playing a few tennis matches), and golf while fun, is pretty slow at leveling up strength. I guess Franklin is going to need to beat up some random strangers on the streets to increase his strength because none of the triathlon events have been enabled yet for either character.

Anyway, I have a question in regards to flying skills (keep in mind I have not progressed far enough with the missions to enable the flying lessons). Both Franklin and Michael have been able to run the stunt plane challenges at the airport just south of Sandy Shores, but if you veer off course with the challenges, the game resets. I want to be able to fly around all of Los Santos to build the flying skills. Now I have been able to steal some civilian as well as Police helicopters for both characters, but my question is "Are the flying skills calculated by forward flight in aircraft, or is seat time in the air sufficient and/or does landing also influence the skills". Because helicopters can fly stationary (plus it's fun to just buzz around the city at low altitudes), I am finding building the flying skills in the helicopter rather slow. Franklin has about 2 real time hours of seat time buzzy the city and I've only seen a 10% increase in his flying skills (he started at 20% and after 2 hours I have him at 30%). Instead of flying stationary, I am wondering if I need to be flying forward as fast as possible?

Not sure how many of you knew about this already, but it looks like you can find some of the gang's modded cars online:

They can be sold for $12,000-13,000 a pop, and are also just nice cars to keep for yourself.

I will answer my own question. Last night I took Franklin up in a civilian helicopter again and this time I flew forward around the island several times. In a little over a real world's hour worth of air time, I managed to increase Franklin's flying skills from 30% to 50%. At 50% the helicopter still wants to yaw left and right on it's own. But it is getting easier to handle. It was pretty ugly when Franklin was only at 20%. I also spent time practice landing on roof tops in downtown Los Santos. It appears that flying forward in the helicopter appears to increase flying skills faster than just pure seat time while stationary in the air.

This goes to show how amazing GTA is and how much effort and detail Rockstar put into the game.

The first appearance of the shark scared the **** out of me.
