      Re: Grand Theft Auto V

Customization really doesn't matter to me too much anymore. It was really fun in SA, but I don't think it would work in this generation of GTA. In fact, once I got to the Algonquin in GTA IV, I put a suit on Niko and never changed his clothes after that. In my mind, Niko is just a suit and professional kind of guy and nothing else really worked for me.

I think the more deeply invested you get in a character, the less customization becomes important, because their personality is so customized, what they wear is really irrelevant, and how they look is intertwined with their personality. R* is great at character development in that regard aside from GTAIII IMO.

Felt the same way in IV. Niko had morals, and a background. I didn't want to make him my own. Niko, was...Niko.

Excited to see Rockstar going with an original score. Worked out really well in Max Payne 3.

Just on first impressions, out of the three characters, I feel like Trevor (balding guy) is going to be my favorite. I have no basis as to place this impression other than how he looks, that he is a vet, and he supposedly lives out in the desert.

I feel people mainly wanna be able to customize haircuts and add tattoos and jewelry etc.

Not anything over the top like changing skin color height weight etc

I wanted to ask you guys this just a question.

Would any of you want GTA to be co-op online.Games like Resident Evil have went in this direction. And Saints Row has it and people enjoy it.Just asking would you guys like that or you'll pass?

RDR, infamous, Sleeping Dogs, etc. The most they let you do is change clothes, and even that I rarely messed with.

I'm not trying to imply it's wrong to want that, I'm just asking where the need for it is coming from. For me, I like having a set character(s) and following his/her story. Changing how they look, or even making them look like myself takes me out of the fantasy of the game world. I see these things like interactive movies to a point. I don't go into a theater wishing I could customize the actors, and I don't go into a game wishing I could customize the characters.

                  Just wondering
Do you know how disappointed I was when you go from all the customization options from San Andreas to GTA IV? Etremely.

We once had a ton of options from customizing cars down to the body type and then we had so little in the next iteration and the online customization was so little that I felt that R* should've really been ashamed of themselves IMHO. It was a tuff pill to swallow...I'm not looking for complete customization, I have always loved Rockstars characters and when you go from so much you can do to them to so little it really is a shame for some people anyway that really enjoyed that part of the game.

Now online I do want complete player customization. A couple of different races and outfits don't really cut it for me. Again this a isn't Saints Row trip or anything I just want that type of freedom in a open world game. My options shouldn't be that limited and they shouldn't have been in the other games as well. I'm pretty sure they can come up with more outfits that fit that characters personality and even if it didn't then that should be your choice if the option is there.

I agree about the multiplayer portion of the game. It would be cool if you could somehow keep an online garage with your cars and be able to customize them.

I missed out on the blowout of information

However reading the thread and seeing the new screens....My social life is going to literally be out the window once I play this game LOL

As for customization, I do like to get some clothes every once in a while but that's it. I find it a bit of a burden sometimes what with the customization and such. I'm a little disappointed that there's no more dating. I found that to be a fun diversion. It's cool to see that they're using older protagonists in this one and going by the screens some of the missions just look out of this world!

Oh and the largest game map ever? Sounds like i'll enjoy driving around (at least for the first little while)

if any of you guys still haven't read the article, send me a PM. i'd be glad to help you out.

on topic: customization would be nice but it's not necessary. it was kind of a drag in san andreas to HAVE to eat and work out. but now with the way R* is developing their characters, i get attached to them and i feel like customizing them would take away from the experience. it's like if i changed the way they looked, it wouldn't feel like the same character.

on the other hand, i'd be totally down for car customization. i hope they include some kind of garage for our cars. the parking space they had in IV was stupid and i lost a ton of cars because of it.

I am usually cheap(rarely buys games) when it comes to thinking about buying games, but I would pay over $100 for this. Really looking forward to playing as multiple characters at anytime. Also like that they have different behaviors and personalities.

I kinda understand why there wont be dating. Having 3 protagonists would make it difficult to juggle relationships. But, I do expect there still to be ways to keep the protagonists from being "lonely".

Outside of the Suit you had to get for the Three Leaf Clover mission, I didn't buy any clothes and didn't a reason to do so.

In GTA:SA, it at least made some sense to buy clothes since they were doing Gangs and I admit it was cool to be posted up with your homeboys wearing the same colors and then riding out to do some drive bys. But now? It's not even really necessary. Even in Saints Row, all I did was buy a purple Hoodie and maybe either a Bandana or a Hat and that would be it.
