Re: Mass Effect 3
I FINALLY got to play the game last night night. I wasn't able to because of work and not really sure how I survived those extra 2 days without this game but... I only played for an hour or so.However, I'm dedicating my entire time tonight after work to this game.
As far as the game, I'm happy I went with the PC version for the 3rd one. The smoothness and graphics are absolutely amazing. Looks great on the HDTV. My saves carried over with a hitch thanks to that 360 to PC conversion Sox posted which worked flawlessly.
Can't wait till tonight. Around 3 hours left at work.Comment

Does not having everyone alive from ME3 "shorten" the game? I want this bad boy to last but had miranda, jack and legion die....would not having them lose some missions?

Re: Mass Effect 3
Not quite sure what you are getting at here.
SpoilerDid you mean you didn't want to see them at all in ME3 and that they shouldn't have had any part in the story? Also I thought everything with Thane in ME3 was amazing. The scene in the hospital with him and his son was amazing and pretty powerful.SpoilerYes,didn't want to see them in the game at all. Thane had 6 months to live and they just toss him back in this game because he's been working out and suddenly his death is delayed? I call bull on that. The fight with the cyber ninja was pretty cool and the hospital scene too but that doesn't change that storywise he should've died between 2 & 3. Depending on how long ME 2 actually takes story wise it's possible he should've died at the end of the last DLC. I realize why they couldn't really do that but at the start of this Shep has been under house arrest for 6 months already.
Mordin also stated in ME 2 he was at the end of his life and didn't want to do it anymore or something similar. I don't remember exactly what he said.
Yes they both die anyway depending how things are handled and maybe didn't even make it through ME 2 but it should've been part of the story that they weren't there.
All I got from Morinith was a letter saying thanks, she's still alive but left out.Comment

Re: Mass Effect 3
RE: Ending (Spoilers)
SpoilerVery unhappy with the ending. Doesn't seem like all of the decisions, even the war effort I put together, makes the slightest difference. No matter what the Mass Relays are gone and that's a huge problem in itself. There's no explanation at all left. I'm fine with it not being a "peachy" ending, but it just didn't add up to me at all. The game was easily the greatest game I had ever played until the last 5 minutes or so. Will be interesting to see what Bioware does going forward, people are furious and I think there is enough reason to be. They could have done so much more. There were so many great moments for me in the game, all the way up to when Shepard is sitting next to Anderson after he nods off next to him (I had a renegade RT to off Illusive Man ans saved Anderson) and Hackett calls him in. So fitting, and Shepard even acknowledges it "I... what do you need me to do". It's always been about what the everyone needs Shepard to do. But everything past that point really hurts the game overall to me. Fantastic game otherwise, but I spent 30 hours + (downtime as well) bringing a war torn galaxy together, and you give me a clip of Joker frantically flying, a random island, and Grandpa telling a story? Not feeling it, but I'm curious as to what there really is. Feels like there's alot missing... maybe I just am holding to hope.
Doesn't make a great deal of sense to throw that in the last 5 minutes or so. So many issues with it personally. To start - how can "The Catalyst" tell me that Synths and Organics cant live together? I just spent a few hours solving the Geth/Quarian war and Joker spends his off time oiling EDI's thighs (lol).
I've heard a rumor that importing your ME3 completed character and clearing the game again (New Game + is the term used widely) will give a "secret" ending. Have slowly began that grind, just wrapped up my Mars mission and intend to get through it much faster than I did the first time. I'm skeptical, though... but I want to know.
Also, all the endings seem pretty much the same. For a game that is all about choices, you're given three that really don't make any sense at all. And from everything I've read, they all show pretty much the same thing. I just can't wrap my head around anybody within Bioware saying WOW THIS IS AN INTELLIGENT ENDING TO THE GAME CANT WAIT TO SEE THE FAN RESPONSE after seeing what they did with it. My brother just finished it as well, and is highly disappointed. Really, really shocked still.
SpoilerFor me, the way this game ended not only ruined the replay value of it, but the first two games as well.Oklahoma State Cowboys 2011 Big XII Champions, 2012 Fiesta Bowl Champions

I think this plays into the story for ME3 with Mordin though. He knows he is at the end of his life and has to atone for the one thing he most regrets. Thane did however say something about 6 months to live but it can be extended by staying in dry places. It's not hard to believe with medical help he could make it a few extra months.NHL: Vegas Golden Knights

Re: Mass Effect 3
SpoilerOne of the producers said this has been "one of the toughest days ever" (most people must be beating it around this time) and once people see what is planned for DLC then people will want to hold onto their copies "forever."
The backlash is crazy, and understandably so. Not only does the ending pretty much nullify the entire universe they've created (Mass Effect travel is over), you had random things like...how the hell did the Normandy get to where it was? It was just on Earth. Why did it leave?
And the whole reasoning is just...so odd. "We don't want synthetics to kill organics so every 50,000 years we send snythetics in to kill organics so organics don't get smart enough to create synthetics that will end up killing organics.
Whut?
They better have something awesome planned for DLC that makes sense, or this really leaves a sour taste in my mouth for the whole series. Sigh.Michigan WolverinesChicago White SoxComment

Again I don't know how long ME 2 lasts story wise but at the least it's 6 months between ME 2 and 3.
Does the vortex armor actually exist in game? I heard a random Salarian talking about it outside of Purgatory and he said it's the best one out there and it costs more than he makes in a year.Comment

The Ending.
SpoilerMass Effect was like, the last game that I had faith in.....that couldn't possibly be messed up....then I get this ending.....SIGH. What were they thinking about here? You basically crapped all over the 100 plus hours I put in this franchise. So dissapointed.Comment

Re: Mass Effect 3
Ending:
SpoilerI'm pretty much in agreement with everyone on here. It amazes me that they created this incredible game with so many amazing moments, and to come up with a stupid ending like that? Seriously? It pretty much makes going back and playing 1 and 2 seem like nothing, as you either destroy everything or let the Reapers continue their genocide and take control of them, and who the hell wants to do that after the whole point of the game was to destroy the Reapers?
I have read that there is a way for Shepard to survive, though. I think you have to break a certain threshold on the EMS bar (effective military strength, not total) and Shepard can destroy the Reapers and survive.
They better come up some damn good DLC for this stupid ending, or all replay value is dead, imo.Comment

They seriously need to retcon the ending like they did in Fallout 3, or something. The amount of hate they are getting for this is insanely staggering. It's not so much that the ending happened the way it did. I'm fine with controlling the reapers, or killing them. It's just HOW they did and with no regard for your crew. And really, the "galaxy" as we know it is completely dead. It's so frustrating.Michigan WolverinesChicago White SoxComment
