Don't read this if you haven't beat it. This guy sums it up perfectly with his analogy about the movies.

Re: Mass Effect 3
SpoilerI've heard about this, and have slowly mustered up the strength to start again with importing my ME3 clear character. Going to push till I reach the Illusive Man Base and then get my "Galactic Readiness" multiplayer up. Hopefully, before then, there will be more information in regards to what the hell Bioware did to end this game. I've heard there is a NG+ ending, but only rumors. Some people say they've "datamined" the PC version and found nothing so I'm unsure currently. Very hard to get hope up that the ending will come out different after being pretty devastated with the way things turned out the first time through.Follow me on Twitter@DrewGarrisonSBNComment

Re: Mass Effect 3
SpoilerThen there may be hope, yet. There's work to be done. Shouldn't be a very long process considering I've already full cleared and nit picked through every conversation and zone. Still, with the context of the ending we're already aware of... not sure they can even begin fixing that. As soon as the platform lifts it's like a train wreck. At least in NG+ you start with all of your weapons, armor, and credits once you get back to the Normandy.Follow me on Twitter@DrewGarrisonSBNComment

Will have to try NG+ for that, it will be my insanity run. May reapers have mercy on my soul.

Re: Mass Effect 3
SpoilerYes,didn't want to see them in the game at all. Thane had 6 months to live and they just toss him back in this game because he's been working out and suddenly his death is delayed? I call bull on that. The fight with the cyber ninja was pretty cool and the hospital scene too but that doesn't change that storywise he should've died between 2 & 3. Depending on how long ME 2 actually takes story wise it's possible he should've died at the end of the last DLC. I realize why they couldn't really do that but at the start of this Shep has been under house arrest for 6 months already.
Mordin also stated in ME 2 he was at the end of his life and didn't want to do it anymore or something similar. I don't remember exactly what he said.
Yes they both die anyway depending how things are handled and maybe didn't even make it through ME 2 but it should've been part of the story that they weren't there.
All I got from Morinith was a letter saying thanks, she's still alive but left out.
SpoilerCurrently playing ME2 and thane states 8 to 12 months as his life expectancy. So even if we say the events of ME2 take 6 months and then ME3 takes place another 6 months after that, he still is at the end of his life expectancy. So it's not going against the previous story for him to be in ME3.NHL: Vegas Golden Knights

Re: Mass Effect 3
SpoilerHim "surviving" is pretty weak, though. You see his chest move up and down like he takes a breath, and that's it.
They seriously need to retcon the ending like they did in Fallout 3, or something. The amount of hate they are getting for this is insanely staggering. It's not so much that the ending happened the way it did. I'm fine with controlling the reapers, or killing them. It's just HOW they did and with no regard for your crew. And really, the "galaxy" as we know it is completely dead. It's so frustrating.SpoilerI didn't know that was the "Shepard lives" ending, as I was trying to avoid it to see what happened, but now I'm glad I looked, because I've been wasting my time for another stupid ending. Bioware getting trashed and trashed for this ending is justified. That, and I don't like the "take control of the Reapers" ending at all. It should have never even been an option. The whole point of Commander Shepard's journey was to destroy the Reapers, no matter what.
I'll give them another $79.99 to fix this *** **** ending. I have never been so moved with emotion in my entire video game life than I was in Mass Effect 3, and they **** all over it with the endings they came up with.
Speaking of endings, I don't know if it has been posted or not, but here's the summary of what the orginal ending of Mass Effect 3 was supposed to be (before someone leaked it; some people think this ending may be brought back through DLC, so don't read if you don't want to know):
While it's better than this mockery of an ending we have now, people seem to want it back. Why? We already know what happens. I just want them to think up something that doesn't totally devalue everything we've ever done in Mass Effect, like this ending for 3 did.
Personally, I just want a happy ending. I want Shepard to destroy the Reapers, have Joker pull his *** out of the fire in the Normandy and end up with his LI, for me, Liara. All I want is true closure, not the Normandy crashing on some ****ing random planet.Last edited by TheVinylHippo; 03-10-2012, 05:56 AM.Comment

Re: Mass Effect 3
Just started this up last night. I'm about 4 hours in, and wow, what an emotional ride it's already been. Everything has such a much more pressing feel to it with reapers destroying everything in the background during missions. The weight of every decision I've made in the past 2 is already weighing on me as well. I romanced Liara in ME1, then Jack in ME2. Well, Liara brought it up, and I had to choose who to continue romancing. It literally took me like 5 minutes to decide, and I felt like crap afterward.
No other game series has had that effect on me before. I can't wait to finish playing through this masterpiece.Comment

The high quality level of character development in this series continues to astound me. It's incredible to think that I know the personalities and histories of so many of these characters. I think I'm gonna be pretty damn sad when I finish and it's all overComment

Re: Mass Effect 3
Played 3 hours last night and had to force myself to turn it off (I was really tired as I played some Show 12 too).
The game is astounding. I love every second of it. I am a total of 4 hours in and I am blown away.
Best non-sports game series of all time. I thought Skyrim was the best (dumped 190 hours into that one and still have plenty to do) but after finally playing ME2 and now getting this game......easy for me to say that.
True video game brilliance. Story, character development, graphics, FPS, RPG....it has it all.
Awesome job Bioware. Now Playing on PS5:
