I played ME1 from beginning to end, but I haven't played ME2 at all. Should I just buy both, or get ME3? Thanks, guys!

Get both. ME2 is 20 bucks new. It is well worth it! And IMO a must before you play ME3. And do all the DLC for ME2 as well.

When I am done with ME3 I will play through ME2 and ME3 again with a different approach. I only had one play through of ME2 and was going to do another.....but I could not resist firing up ME3 now.

I didn't know that was the "Shepard lives" ending, as I was trying to avoid it to see what happened, but now I'm glad I looked, because I've been wasting my time for another stupid ending. Bioware getting trashed and trashed for this ending is justified. That, and I don't like the "take control of the Reapers" ending at all. It should have never even been an option. The whole point of Commander Shepard's journey was to destroy the Reapers, no matter what.

I'll give them another $79.99 to fix this *** **** ending. I have never been so moved with emotion in my entire video game life than I was in Mass Effect 3, and they **** all over it with the endings they came up with.

Speaking of endings, I don't know if it has been posted or not, but here's the summary of what the orginal ending of Mass Effect 3 was supposed to be (before someone leaked it; some people think this ending may be brought back through DLC, so don't read if you don't want to know):

While it's better than this mockery of an ending we have now, people seem to want it back. Why? We already know what happens. I just want them to think up something that doesn't totally devalue everything we've ever done in Mass Effect, like this ending for 3 did.

Personally, I just want a happy ending. I want Shepard to destroy the Reapers, have Joker pull his *** out of the fire in the Normandy and end up with his LI, for me, Liara. All I want is true closure, not the Normandy crashing on some ****ing random planet.

I feel like the third game really makes me feel the weight of my decisions in the other two. A certain character was a real d*** to me for a while due to a decision I made in the last game.

This is turning into my favorite game of all-time. Even more than Raiders of the Lost Ark for the Atari 2600.

The high quality level of character development in this series continues to astound me. It's incredible to think that I know the personalities and histories of so many of these characters. I think I'm gonna be pretty damn sad when I finish and it's all over

Man, you're not kidding. I'm not even that far in and am already just savoring the nostalgia. I've never been actually attached to a group of video game characters before.

Early in the game, for example, I had already heard that you could pick between the doctors. It's a minor thing (in terms of game impact), but I labored over whether to leave Dr. Chakwas for the war asset or take her with me. I decided that I can't have my crew without her...I was actually too attached.

Plus, I don't think I've ever been more excited to be reintroduced to a character in a game than I was when I heard Garrus start talking on Menae (except for maybe when I realized he was Archangel in ME2...lol.) I was like "YES! My boy is back!" I love how they acknowledge the closeness developed between him and Shepard.

I had to start a new Shepherd. Same sentinel character but looks different. The one I designed originally made me think, "I can't look at this guy for the rest of the game." Poorly designed by the user.

So the ending is Dues Ex meets The Matrix? I had no problem sacrificing my Shepard for the good of the galaxy, but the ending was weak. I wanted a talk with Harbinger about what the Reapers are, or some grand revelation. Instead I get the kid because the Catalyst can read Shepard's mind.

I went with the Synthesis ending, as that seemed the least "kill everyone". Destroying the Reapers would of been ok, but I gave the Geth person-hood and things like EDI would die. So now everyone gets to be green and live in the Garden of Eden. Or at least that's how I took it, with Joker and EDI being Adam and Eve of a new generation. I still don't get why Tali jumped off the ship with them, as she was either dead or incapacitated on the ground after Harbinger lasered me.

Aside from that, I really liked the game. It was nice seeing everyone again, so many characters you've met before and big choices like ending the Geth/Quarian War and ending the Genophage. But in the end all your choices are rendered meaningless as everyone on the Citadel dies, and humanity is plunged back into the dark ages with no relays. All the people I met, favors I did...

All gone because of a ending that's too vague. I did like the Tali x Shepard bits in the game as I romanced her in ME2, especially drunk Tali

The random stories that you hear on the Citadel have more emoitional depth than many game's main storyline.

I had to make mine twice too. She looked fine on the creation screen and ended up bad in game. Still bad parts on the second try on some angles but 90% of the time,pretty good.

Hardly, the ending is completely terrible and takes away from the 99% of the rest of the trilogy that is wonderful. Wouldn't say it's for the sake of whining at all.

The ending completely nullifies every single thing you did for the most part. I probably won't buy any DLC that is "pre-ending" DLC because what is the point? Playing the series again would even be tough because you just get shoehorned into one ending.
