Re: Final Fantasy XIII-2
SE keeps saying in interviews that they would need to build FF7 and 9 from the ground up if they were to get an HD treatment due to the age of the software. I'm happy to see that FFX is getting an HD upgrade. I'm not into RPG's like I used to be years ago, but this is one title I'll pick up as I had a blast playing FFX.Comment

In the meanwhile Noel reminds me of a slightly more mature Sora.DON'T PANICComment

Re: Final Fantasy XIII-2
Haha, that was my first impression as well.
I may have glossed over this in previews, but I believe this is the first Final Fantasy game with an autosave feature! But with that, it also ensures that you can't get stuck in an unwinnable situation since you can return to the "hub" area from the pause menu (though the game does mention there are certain times when you can't).
I'm also warming up to the monster taming idea now that I'm playing the full game - one of the first 2 you get just so happens to have the medic role, which Noel and Serah do not (yet). Also, you can upgrade them through the crystarium, so there appears to be a lot more depth there than I initially thought.
Enjoying it so far. BTW, I'm up to the point where the demo took over - it's not far into the game at all - just after the first area. So if you were holding out on the demo, don't worry about it spoiling too much.
One more thing...if you got that Genji Bow from the preorder, you can get it the first time you meet Chocolina. But...that thing has a good 10 strength points above the normal weapon you can buy, and recharges ATB faster to boot. In other words, I think it's going to make things too easy and I won't be using it. It does look pretty cool, though.Comment

Yeah I miss the combat they had from like Final Fantasy X and before, why 13 and 13-2 is throwing me off.

Just to add, the demo was from a very blah part of the game. The game is very beautiful and colorful.Last edited by Jasong7777; 02-02-2012, 12:14 PM.Redskins, Lakers, Orioles, UNC Basketball , and ND Football

Re: Final Fantasy XIII-2
Anyone else stuck on 200 AF, or more specifically, its boss fight? (I figure that's the best way to talk about game progress without spoiling). I'm not ready to go to gamefaqs yet, I'd rather figure it out myself. But it does have me stalled a little.
Bosses with Reraise suck. Didn't expect to see something like that so early.Comment

Re: Final Fantasy XIII-2
1. Game is a lot less linear: the first hour or so you're really restricted but then the game opens up and there's a lot of different ways to go and things to see
2. Crystarium is much improved and much deeper: you start with 3 classes for Noel and Serah but you can unlock various things (i.e. ATB bar increase, a new class, class bonus upgrades, etc.) when you get to the next level of the crystarium (which isn't based on story advances anymore...its purely off when you get the right amount of experience put in). Not to mention the fact that the Crystarium is all 1 big thing now, as in, you can choose what you want to develop and it all goes on 1 board, as opposed to like 7 different boards for the different classes.
3. The game is visually beautiful when you aren't in the one area they decided to put in the demo...I don't know why they decided on Bresha Ruins 005AF as the demo since that is the most bland area in the game
4. Monster Taming adds a whole new depth to combat: What I mean, is that there are literally millions of different combinations of ways to build a team and none of them are distinctly wrong, which is a huge deal for a Final Fantasy game imo.
I could go on, but I think you may get the point lol...personally I'm stuck in Academia 500AF because of the damn puzzle (anyone who's been here knows what I'm talking about)
And to the poster stuck in 200AF, I could probably help you figure something out to get you through the fight if your still stuck there...PM me and we can chat if you want (if not, at least take this hint haha...have Serah be at least a level 9 sab. when you fight the boss. poison will offset the regen fairly well)
EDIT: I just finished the story, no spoilers from me but let me tell you all that I'm pretty pissed at how Square decided to end this one. Decide for yourselves when you get there, but don't say I didn't warn you if you happen to throw a remote through the tv after finishing the game.Last edited by TheNumber35; 02-03-2012, 12:40 AM.Check out my Houston Astros Dynasties:

Re: Final Fantasy XIII-2
So far, I am loving this game! But, I liked XIII, so that makes sense. My favorite part is that random battles are back! It makes it feel like and old school FF game. Additionally, the ability to save whenever I want is a godsend. As a working professional and father of two, I can't tell you how grateful for this I am! No more looking for save points.
The graphics and environments are nice. I also like the fact that I can talk to peeople in villages again. I am only a couple of hours in, but the story, albeit a bit melodramatic, has me hooked. If I could just somehow finish this before Reckoning drops... No chance!Sweet Mary Jane with eyes like the rain and alive to the sound...Comment

Re: Final Fantasy XIII-2
If I could offer my two cents here, I agree that the game is much different and much better than the last one and here's a few reasons why...
Also, by fan demand, they wanted to extend Lightning's life in FF-13. I don't think they do that by making her sort of a background character in the sequel. This series has to end with a bang, for the sake of what the fans asked for.
But, I haven't even started yet, so I'm not sure of what happens in the story, so dont spoil it for me lol.Comment
