Also, by fan demand, they wanted to extend Lightning's life in FF-13. I don't think they do that by making her sort of a background character in the sequel. This series has to end with a bang, for the sake of what the fans asked for.

But, I haven't even started yet, so I'm not sure of what happens in the story, so dont spoil it for me lol.
That's not necessarily a spoiler, there will most likely be an FF13-3...that's not what I'm mad about. And I will say you're kind of right about Caius, the ending does have to do with him (obviously) but it isn't what your expecting...

And I agree with the point about Light, I was pretty mad when I saw her being a background character...not gonna lie. But I'll revoke my cynicism, because as I said above, I throughly enjoyed the game up until I finished the story lol. But about Lightning, she may not seem it at first, but Serah is pretty badass when it comes down to it, and like a poster mentioned above...Noel does seem like a more mature Sora lol

I am really loving the game, especially the monster taming. There is a level that is mostly in the dark at the beginning with shall we say, mini-bosses roaming around. I was lucky enough to wind up with one on my party and I am very happy...named him Zeus...

One other pretty cool touch is that when you start the game from where you left off, they give you a "previously on Final Fantasy xiii-2" montage. I'm not too far into the game, so this might not be cool the more times I see it, but it was REALLY cool the first time I saw it!

No that is still kinda cool lol, even for me who's finished the story and seen it 100 million times. I love how it keeps you up to date and it can remind you of what you need to be doing or what's happened before you saved...its very helpful! As opposed to coming back into a game after a week or so and having no clue what-so-ever where you are and what you're doing lol

And as for the poster who has "Zeus" just wait, there is a much smaller monster you can get that hits a lot harder than Zeus lol...my favorite monster to have tamed is a former Eidolon (I won't say which). Not because he's the strongest or best at his class (because the smaller monster I eluded to is the strongest COM monster in the game with somewhere around 1000-1200 attack when he's maxed out!), but because he looks badass!

p.s. if anyone wants helping getting this tiny 1000 attack monster, just let me know and I can hit you up with some knowledge

Bosses with Reraise suck. Didn't expect to see something like that so early.
I am. I get him down a lot and then all of a sudden he buffs and heals. It's driving me nuts. Did you move past him yet? I am thinking maybe I should grind some more.

I wonder if the Pulse Knight is a better Sentinel than Noel?

Avoiding reading this thread for now until I beat the game, but just wanted to mention I probably played for 10 hours straight yesterday....it's been awhile since I did a marathon like that, and it certainly didn't happen for XIII. Pretty sure I blew through the better part of the game in the process.

Getting hooked on this game like I never did on XIII.

I felt/feel the same way, I ran a 12 hour straight marathon of it a couple days ago, and you probably blew through a good portion of the story as the main story with no side quests takes approx. 30-40 hours...and hurry up and finish so I have someone who's finished it to discuss with lol, I hate not being able to talk about the ending or specific boss fights without spoiling something for someone.

I like that while Noel and Sarah aren't at the level of a Snake or Master Chief they don't hit you over the head with obnoxious voice over acting...I am also strangely fond of Chocolina...I think there may be something wrong with me.

haha I can feel your pain...or strange affection. I find myself wanting to punch her in the face, but in Serendipity (where she has no shop set up) I find myself missing her a little lol

And a recall that you asked a question about the pulsework being a better sentinel than Noel...I would put it this way, early on in the game (and probably later on as well, depending on how you develop your characters) Noel is gonna be your hardest hitter. Restricting him to taking damage as a role is incredibly crippling in early boss fights, where your COM monster (or RAV monster for that matter) is god awful, to be honest lol.

Personally, what I would do for future fights against that boss you struggled with would be this: 1st Paradigm start with Noel as MED or SEN, Serah as SAB, and a monster as whichever role you DIDN'T have Noel take. After you inflict poison (and other debuffs if time allows) which to this paradigm: Noel and Serah RAV, and a monster as COM. Try to stagger him and deal damage while you can and if the boss prepares to do a powerful attack (he typically has a way of showing you right before he's about to do one) then switch to a triple SEN paradigm to deflect the damage...also, a triple medic is helpful for getting rid of any debuffs and for quickly healing.

But that's just my two-cents, that's how I've had the most success in the past against him...and I've struggled mightily against him trying to do it different ways than that

I actually don't know who Sora is, I basically only player X, X-2, XIII, and a Final Fantasy that had Cloud in it (it may be 7, it kinda starts out in some dark, mechanical place).

Also, I thought Noel kinda reminded me of Tidus. He just has that mysteriousness about him; I'm still in the process of learning his relationship with Yuel (I've already pieced together his relationship with Caius, as I guessing he's the dude who used him all the time, then left )

If I had to guess though, I'd say we could see Lightning and Serah fighting together for sure. I don't know if Noel and the others from 13 will have bigger roles (I'm still wondering about Sazh and Dajh at this point). But, I think FF13-2's purpose is to develop the idea of Serah as a fighter in players' minds. She's going from a helpless victim and younger sister, to being capable of holding her own. It would be great to see Light and Serah fighting together in 13-3. But yeah when I heard Lighting wasn't really playable, I thought about how fans were asking to have her game life expanded...it makes PERFECT sense to have Light and Serah fight together.

Also, yeah I'm still wondering what Caius' purpose is in the story. I should find out soon, I'm in Augusta Tower, 200 AF.

Yes, the Pulse Knight is a better option for most of the game. I think a better one comes along, but that's not until late.

And yes, I have the Strategy Guide, I couldn't resist. Lots of helpful info though, and no spoilers, so I still enjoy the story.

Ha! I broke down and purchased the collector's edition one the other day. IMO it's a nice book so I don't mind. They do seem to gloss over boss battles though...at least so far.

For the life of me I can not seem to luck out and capture a pulse knight after a battle....and...random observation: Noel and Serah seem somewhat more mature than many typical FF characters as of late.

Well, I'm done now, so no worrying about that anymore!

First non-spoiler stuff (as I'm assuming people know about Serendipity since I've seen it mentioned in this thread): Those damn slot machines....It seems like the only way you can ever win big is to hit jackpots, but those are inaccessible without triggering some kind of "bonus flag". Any ideas on what causes that to fire and jackpot mode to start? The tutorial doesn't really explain and it just seems nothing but random to me - I've had it trigger twice, but didn't line up 9's or...that other thing with a big payout.

The real reason I waited this long to get into the spoilery stuff was so as not accidentally reveal anything important to people using OS Real Time. Spoiler tags don't work on there so it can really ruin someone's day. So, anyway....

Other than spoilers haha, someone asked about Sora...so I'll explain that reference. Sora is the main character from Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 (and all the millions of spin-offs which aren't Kingdom Hearts 3 like we were promised!). He's shown below in the picture I picked from online lol

I think that Tidus/Noel comparison has some interesting parallels, I didn't personally think about that until now...but you are definitely right, although I don't know if there is anything more to that comparison other than the points mentioned above.
