RE6 probably would of just benefited with having one lead character throughout the entire story vs. having 3 different scenarios from what the reviews are saying.

I like the change of pace with different storylines but from what im hearing every character feels the same and alot of people saying if RE6 would've made them feel different then it could've been better after hearing the lack luster reviews I might hold off on RE6 till the price drop

Btw, a man needs to be able to admit when he's wrong... Goh, you and I almost never agree, but you called this one man. I was too hard on you dude.

Back on topic, I hope someone picks this up tomorrow... I'd still like to hear some impressions. I haven't COMPLETELY jumped ship yet.

Being a big fan of the series, I probably will end up picking this up tomorrow Jason. I'll let you know how this is. I haven't missed a RE yet, not counting the ones on the handhelds.

I remember playing the original Resident Evil games on Playstation1 growing up and falling in love with them. I was already a fan of horror movies, and Resident Evil making horror games more mainstream was awesome to me. I remember many nights sitting up in the dark, all the lights off, volume cranked, walking around the abandoned police station in RE2 and knowing for a fact I wasn't sleeping that night.

What made those old games so great wasn't the action. It was the atmosphere, the story. It was the creaking of the floors in the distance, the echoing moans, and the drifting footsteps. It was opening an old wooden door and not knowing whether a licker, a horde of zombies, or a typewriter to finally save your progress would be behind it. It was walking down a hallway and a bird crashing through a window and forcing you to press pause and change your drawers. The action was clunky and frustrating sometimes, but the games weren't about the action. They were about the mood. And that's what made them classics. It's the same reason I still enjoy games like Silent Hill and Alan Wake.

I understand from a business perspective why Capcom would want to reach a broader audience with more action-oriented gameplay. Shooting games are guaranteed hits nowadays. And they're trying to make money.

But while playing the demo (particularly Chris and Wesker Jr's) I couldn't help but miss those old days with the original Resident Evil games and the dread that's completely missing from this demo. Having an AI partner, blasting away at 50 "altered soldiers" in broad daylight just doesn't pack the same punch as being alone in a mansion with only a few lights guiding your way.

Unfortunately, I don't think Resident Evil will ever get back to where it was. And for gamers that love the more action-oriented versions, that's awesome. I just miss the atmosphere. The chills. The guy saying "Resident Evil" with a loud boom when you hit start and knowing s*** was about to get real. To me, that will ALWAYS be what Resident Evil is about.
Good post man. My feelings exactly. As a horror fan, that's what drew me to these types of games in the first place.

Mainstream (AAA) gaming has gone down the tubes. Everything is about appealing to a 'wider audience' now because the cost of making these games has gotten WAY too high. Now all these games are so similar to each other, with the focus on ACTION ACTION ACTION

I miss the days when we had RPGs that weren't action games, tactical shooters like Ghost Recon 1, early Rainbow 6 games, horror games, adventures...

Oh well, hopefully we're gonna get some good games outta this kickstarter movement.

I actually enjoyed Raccoon City with all its flaws and issues. Some things could of been much better level design, but its a 3rd person shooter where you are mowing down tons and tons of oncoming zombies.

I usually don't chime in much when I don't like a game as to not be a "spoil the fun for others"
