Re: Halo Combat Evolved Remake 11/15
I thought they announced 7 maps from the original game would be in this one for multiplayer? At least that's what I thought they said during the Xbox keynote.
The video above is no longer there so I don't know if it was announced differently.Xbox LIVE GT: oALEXtheGREATo

The maps are for Reach's multiplayer however. 343i is promising some things that make the gameplay "classic" on these as well, but they aren't really willing to talk about it.Comment

Re: Halo Combat Evolved Remake 11/15
The way I understood it, there are 7 multiplayer maps for Halo CE, but they are running in the Reach engine and will be a map DLC pack for Reach. BUT, also on the CE disc for Halo?
Right?
I thought that's what I understood it to be, but reading this thread has me confused.Comment

Re: Halo Combat Evolved Remake 11/15
If that's the case that's better than no multiplayer at all in the CE (aside from coop). Still, I'd be OK with the multiplayer on the original engine but with maybe a slight graphics upgrade. That's what I was hoping for, as unrealistic as it may have been. The way I understood it, there are 7 multiplayer maps for Halo CE, but they are running in the Reach engine and will be a map DLC pack for Reach. Re: Halo Combat Evolved Remake 11/15
Yeah, CE remake includes Reach multiplayer on those 7 maps. No CE multiplayer for two reasons: 1)Didn't want to interrupt the flow and population of Reach. 2)343 reiterated what Bungie has said for years, and that is it wouldn't play the same due to online latency.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

There are 7 maps on the CEA disc. They are maps from CE, but you play Reach multiplayer on them. You can also download the maps to your hard drive so that you can use the maps with Reach as you would a normal DLC pack. The way I understood it, there are 7 multiplayer maps for Halo CE, but they are running in the Reach engine and will be a map DLC pack for Reach. Re: Halo Combat Evolved Remake 11/15
I remember the days of playing CE on XBConnect and having to lead that pistol a good 10 feet in front of people to hit them thanks to the lag.
I was still hoping for multiplayer just straight from CE even though I knew it was a fever dream. Playing with the old pistol and being able to blow power weapons to you with grenades. Even though I love Reach I'm just not as interested playing these maps with Reach's weapons.Last edited by Sandman42; 06-09-2011, 05:21 PM.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

Original Xbox "Duke" Controller Making a Comeback?
With Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary on its way, Master Chief isn't the only thing that 343 Industries plans to bring back from the past, according to Giant Bomb, they're bringing the famous "Duke" controller for the original Xbox.
The Duke was a behemoth of a controller, packing 6 face buttons in addition to an analog joystick on the right side of the contraption. It wasn't the most comfortable of controllers, but it sure is one that brings back some good memories.
Alongside PAX Prime in Seattle, 343 reportedly intends on having Xbox 360 enabled Duke controllers hooked up to their Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary kiosks at Halo Fest. The alteration isn't fully sanctioned by Microsoft, as 343 is reaching out to select modders to make their throw-back dream come true.
In a NeoGAF thread, franchise development director Frank O'Connor said that they were looking to produce limited edition controllers so, sadly, it doesn't look like these will be mass produced. Instead, 343 wants to put the controllers up for auction at the annual Child's Play dinner after PAX once they have served their purpose.Comment

Re: Halo Combat Evolved Remake 11/15
Just so everybody isn't confused (or didn't click the link and read the full article), these controllers are definitely not being made for production. 343 purchased six of those controllers from a used video game store and are remaking them to work with 360s just for this special event. A few lucky fans will be able to use them at the event, after that they are being sold for charity and I doubt they'll be in working order when that happens.Lux y VeritasComment
