Kotaku Rumor: Modern Warfare 3 to Feature Bigger Story, More Destruction This Fall
While still unannounced, sources who have seen the game in action tell Kotaku that the next Call of Duty will be a Modern Warfare 3 that pushes the bar on what people have come to expect from the series. And it hits this fall.
The yet-to-be announced sequel is under development by Infinity Ward, though a swath of those developers left the company in a civil-litigation uprising last year. The team is being assisted by newly minted Activision studio Sledgehammer Games, we're told. We've also heard that Raven Software may be involved. But our sources tell us Modern Warfare 3 will continue along that storyline, delivering a "world in crisis" feel to the aftermath of the U.S. invasion. However, it looks like it won't be another take on Red Dawn, a post-U.S. invasion storyline already explored by Homefront. While it's unclear where specifically the game will be set, Modern Warfare 3 will have a urban setting, much like the U.S. missions in Modern Warfare 2, with military vehicles, including tanks, rolling through suburban streets.
The story may also include prominent characters from Modern Warfare 2, like Captain John "Soap" MacTavish and Captain John Price. Modern Warfare 2 ended with Price, Soap and a Russian informant codenamed Nikolai on the run as international fugitives following their killing of Lieutenant General Shepherd.
The biggest shift for the game appears to be in its breadth. We're told that Modern Warfare 3 will take place on a much larger, **** scale. It appears the game will explore the lead up to a blossoming set of engagements that could pull in other countries, creating a potential World War III scenario. The game will also feature large, urban destructible environments.
"The creative excellence and sheer scale of the game we are making, and the unprecedented online universe that will accompany it will re-set the bar for this genre, giving players a new level of immersion, connectivity, community and of course **** action. The game to date has exceeded every internal milestone and we look forward to sharing it with you soon."
Hirshberg went on to say the firm is committed to pouring investment back into the Call of Duty franchise that's been fattening its wallets over the past few years in efforts to "take the experience to an entirely new level".Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

You know they'll have it unlocked in no time, and the BS will continue. I can't stand it. How about forcing people to be accurate with their weapons instead of shooting at areas.Originally posted by J. ColeFool me one time that's shame on you. Fool me twice can't put the blame on you. Commando and Noob tubes were the biggest problems with MW2 for me, but I loved that game so much I lived with it.Saints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, LightningComment

Re: Modern Warfare 3 PS3/360
I doubt they put out anything better than the Frostbite 2 engine. Really don't see them winning by trying to branch out into what battlefield does best. Their style of gameplay just doesn't work for large environments imo.Originally posted by BlueNGoldI feel weird for liking a post about exposed penises.Comment

I doubt it will be on a different engine than the past four COD games.Comment

Re: Modern Warfare 3 PS3/360
I don't know what exactly they can do, that Battlefield won't all ready be doing. I don't mean to turn this into a debate amongst the two, but I'd rather spend my money on a proven product, rather then something that's used pretty much the same engine for all of their latest installments. If they tie in from the end of MW2, with Soap and co. I'd probably play it for the SP Campaign, but that's it.
It's a long way away and too hard to make that sort of decision now, but they're going to have to win be back over.. I'm tired of giving them money for something I can't enjoy.Comment

I don't plan on buying this game, and I think that Battlefield 3 will probably be a better game in just about every aspect, but I think this game will still sell like hotcakes.Comment

Re: Modern Warfare 3 PS3/360
It sounds to me like Activision trying to make online play a whole new thing or something. I loved MW2 online play aside from carepackage glitching and hackers/modders rooms you would run into once in a while. Aside from that I loved online play on MW2. I really wish Activison wouldn't mess with it to much. Maybe make a few changes that all. But I'm looking forward to MW3. Hopefully we will start getting loads of info on MW3 at E3 next month. All signs right now is pointing that way.Comment
