It does in a way, and I can relate it to films. If I see a trailer for a movie that I assume is adult oriented, doesn't wan to censor themselves, etc. but is rated PG-13, in a way, I'm disappointed. When I see films that are rated R, in certain cases that makes me want to see it because I know they were okay with making what they wanted to and alright with it appealing possibly to a smaller market.

Same with games. A game rated 'Mature' lets me know the developers didn't hold back.

Now, with all that said, the rating system for films is ludicrous and absurd. Not sure how bad it is for games, though.

To me it is even worse for games. Out of all the M rated games, most of them are only given that rating because they contain one of the following:

      Sexual talk
      Drug reference
      Alcohol reference
      High amount of cursing
High amount of killing and violence

Damn near every military FPS is rated M, but yet war movies in theatres aren't rated as high.

Dragon Age 1 & 2 is rated M ONLY because of the sexual suggestive content. Assassin Creed series is rated M for the same reason.

When in reality to me those games should be just rated T for teen because you don't see anything. I mean seriously you say way more on Skins and Jersey Shore then you see in those 2 game series.

Don't forget Dragon Age 2's over the top violence. I can't how many times I've seen an arrow turn somebody into a bunch of dismembered limbs.

I don't know, compared to the 1st one, Dragon Age 2 seems kind of tame. I remember in the 1st game you were seeing people heads chopped off, people cut in half. Where as this game, you see a whole lot of body explosions from attacks that shouldn't cause the body to explode.

I can't believe anyone would or wouldn't buy a game just because of the rating. (Not talking about parents/children situations)

I couldn't tell you what any game I own is rated and don't care. I'll play a G rated game as long as it's fun/good.
