    Re: Hitman: Absolution

Played a bit more over the weekend (Firing Range and both of the Lenny ones) and it's been fun.

I do feel like they didn't give us that many options to solve a situation. Seems like you pick between 2 or 3. I guess it's always been like that, but it'd be cool if it were a bit more dynamic.

That being said, I'm still having fun! The accidental deaths are pretty cool.

Is there a penalty to using knives or other weapons to kill vs. the fiber wire? Just thinking of making things a bit more interesting when it forces me to kill anyways.

No penalty but I think fiber is one of the signature kill bonus points when you use it on a main target. No bonus on the other weapon kills

Ahhhh, gotcha...Probably just do fiber kills or accidents through the game and have more fun with Contracts mode later then....

Do you guys suggest this or the HD trilogy pack?

You can't go wrong with either choice really. With Absolution its a pretty long story and plus you have users making contracts to attempt on each of the levels all the time to change it up as well.

              depends.
              they are different.
the trilogy is all the slow paced hitman action from the past. numerous ways to pass each level. no checkpoints. i would say get this, because i enjoyed it so much more.

Hitman absolution just felt like the game manhunt to me. I got sick of it in about 2 weeks. There was no replay value in it for me even with contracts mode.

So the originals are closer to Splinter Cell 1 as far as pacing and stealth go?

Yeah, Absolution is fun, but it's more limited (IMO) and straightforward. You still use stealth, but the older games were more "Hitman" for my tastes.

Still liking Absolution, but not digging it as much as I wanted to.

Maybe its just me but i found Absolution to be every bit classic hitman. There still are numerous ways to finish at least two thirds of the levels in Absolution. I guess people take away points due to the story narrative making some missions not have the "feel" of hitman I guess?

There are numerous ways...And I do like the story, but I think you're right that it's just not totally Hitman in that regard.

It's hard to explain, I just know I feel there's "something" missing for me...but I still really enjoy it for what it is...

                        Re: Hitman: Absolution

Too much of the game is "get from point a to point b".

The game feels entirely too scripted, meaning short scripted action repeated way too quickly. In one stage I saw the same guy pee on the same electrical outlet what seemed like every 2 minutes. Guy must have a prostate the size of a pomegranate.

Every possible action you can take feels entirely too blatant within the game. Never mind the big list off all your possible paths to completing a level being listed at the end of every level (ugh), even within the stages it feels like the game is hand holding me through the stage like I am a moron. What I mean is, using the previous example, it's almost as if the guy shouts "I'M GOING TO GO OVER HERE AND PEE ON THIS EXPOSED WIRE. GEE I HOPE NOBODY TURNED ON THIS BREAKER RIGHT HERE, BECAUSE THAT MIGHT COMPLETELY INCAPACITATE ME, BUT IF NOT DON'T WORRY, I'LL BE BACK IN A COUPLE MINUTES, YOU CAN KILL ME THEN."

On it's own it's not a horrible game, it's just not a great Hitman game.

Its better in terms of having a large variety of options to kill but its most certainly less straight forward than older hitman games. I replay levels often and find parts of the level that I never seen or new ways to kill targets. As for the enemies and their projected trails...its always been like that really. I sometimes wish it was more random and unpredictable but it seems like the levels were designed with AI paths in mind so they had to be that way in order to get past many scripted events. Nevertheless, still a good Hitman game compared to older ones.
