EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure. -

Re: Hitman: Absolution
No. Not at all. I can't tell that they are paying any homage to the other games thus far, and they are ignoring the Movie altogether which is not surprising (though the game's storyline is somewhat similar to the movies).Comment

Re: Hitman: Absolution
Playing on the XBox360 and just finished 1st level that kicks off the story. The graphics in the game are great, and though there is CGI in there, the difference between the CGI and the graphics engine is very little so they flow together fairly well and may leave you scratching your head at times wondering which one your looking at for a given cutscene.
The music and sound are good and make good use of surround sound. Lots of low omnious tones that were driving my subwoofer to rattle the house walls (usually crank a new game up to get the full effect 1st time through).
Voice over work is great as well. Even the conversations between the enemies you'll be taking out are well done. Only complaint I have here is that 47 appears to have a slight British accent, which is something I wasn't expecting, nor I had ever envisioned for him. It doesn't ruin the immersion and I quickly became used to it, but it was surprising for me none the less.
Gameplay is solid, as are the sneak mechanics and the normal hiding of bodies is there from previous games. Some nice additions have been added like the ability to automatically drag a body that's been choked with wire, and the ability to quickly utilized killed targets clothes as a disguise.
Gameplay has added something called 'instinct' that allows for various capabilities in the game. One is to determine walking paths of enemies that may spot you so you can more easily navigate to take them down from behind. Another is to identify items you may pickup or use. Another is to duck your head and walk past a group of guards while you are in disguises. If too close they may pick up on you and instinct (which is limited) allows you to pass by them safely without being recognized. Finally the 3rd, and the best IMHO is the ability to quickly target multiple enemies for kill shots and then execute them in a movie style quicktime scene which makes for some pretty cool executions and imagery for our fabled assassin 47.
Story seems to stem a bit from the movie of the game where 47 is protecting an innocent, and I can't speak more towards it than that, as 47 has apparently gone rogue as of the 1st level (not really a spoiler). Didn't really understand why he was so willing to do so. The target he assassinated had saved his life, but he had no problem killing her, yet he then went rouge to protect the girl.... Maybe I missed something there, but I didn't understand why he did it. Only complaint I have about the story, and again, perhaps I missed something entirely. Why a man would kill someone who had saved his life, only to turn on the agency for a girl he doesn't know... the why of that decision just didn't click with me based on the 1st level game/story.
Anyhow, draw you're own conclusions guys, but so far I'm enjoying the game. Well worth the wait, and easily the best Hitman we've had so far.Last edited by Valdarez; 11-21-2012, 12:21 AM.Comment

btw, the code is gone.NCAA: Pitt, Arkansas State

Re: Hitman: Absolution
I've only played the first tutorial and the second mission, but so far there had definitely been a "Blood Money" feel so don't worry. Things seem pretty open ended. I actually liked that in the second mission you were shown your target and not prodded toward any method of execution, it was up to you.
I also like how if you disguise yourself you need to use up "instinct" when you walk by someone of the same "class". Meaning if you disguise as a bodyguard, you cant just keep walking by other bodyguards before they start saying "is that a new guy?" etc). Like it so far, I'll post more after I play a little more.Comment

Re: Hitman: Absolution
played about an hour on ps3.
so far the first 3 levels i dont like. They are levels i would not replay again like some in blood money (lifeline, better watch out, death do us part, heaven and hell, etc).
these levels are just all about getting to the point. Nothing else much to explore or do in the levels. Very disappointed so far, but its only the first 3 levels.
also contracts mode wasnt working for me. it said the servers were down. so i couldnt even try that.
the graphics are nice
sound is great
framerate is solid
noticed a couple gameplay glitches where certain items werent there when the icon said it was. (ie the cup of coffee in the first level)
i also hate how the icon are always on the screen telling you what items you can pick up
hate how small the levels are and how they are broken up.
Im hoping the levels get better after 3, and contracts mode will save this game.
As it stands now it reminds me of manhunt or metal gear solid.
that my me great for some people, but for fans of blood money and myself, this game isnt going to satisfy you. So far it gets a 6/10 from me.Comment

That is absolutely one of the dumbest things they've put into the game, instinct. 47 is supposed to be highly trained and a near superhero level master at what he does, yet now he needs an energy meter to hide his face. Pfft.Last edited by Burns11; 11-21-2012, 01:16 AM.Comment

Re: Hitman: Absolution
I've got ATI but it's fixed anyway. Smooth now. Only messed around with the first 2 levels so far. I want to figure out how to poison the fish.
When I said professional was broken because of the disguise non-sense I meant purist. Haven't tried the ones in between.Last edited by goh; 11-21-2012, 02:27 AM.Comment

Re: Hitman: Absolution
Seems like I remember you having a 6700?
Anyway, I was on the third mission and got seen and just decided to explore before I failed and....blasting fools with a shotgun is pretty damn fun. Not exactly what you want to see from a Hitman game, but just going full on assault mode might be the most fun way to play.Comment

Re: Hitman: Absolution
a little update on my impressions
ended up playing contracts for about an hour.
Its not gonna save the game for me.
I played some of the developer contracts for levels I havent been to yet.
And all these levels are crap. They are so small, and there is really nothing going on in them besides a bunch of guards.
very disappointing.
After a while playing the game I think the main problem with the game is that the levels are just too small. It seems as though they closed off alot of entry points (ie in contracts mode for the mansion level, I dont even think you can get into the mansion.)
It past hitman games, you could enter most of the doors, and it was endless fun seeing where each door would go, or what would be behind each door. Not in this game. Im beginning to think they dont have a floor map in this game because it would look pathetic at how little areas there are compaired to previous hitman games.
Will be returning this ASAP while I can get the most credit for it. Hoping for a Hitman HD trilogy release ASAP.
This game is just boring to me.
Probably my biggest disappointment all time for video games. jumped ahead of how disappointed I was with nhl 2k4 after how good NHL 2k3 was.
Question: Are these the same guys that made Blood money? Or was there a huge turnover? It just seems as though its a totally different game than the first 4. ugh. Im so pissed.Last edited by Splitter77; 11-21-2012, 09:00 AM.Comment
