I usually bank my points but figured I'd use $10 worth for my purchase on Friday.

I bank mine too. It's easy enough to jump on my phone while in the store and cash out if I want to. Plus once you turn points into a certificate the clock starts counting towards its expiration, no?

Banking kicks in at Elite, doesn't have to be plus.

If you have it set to higher and have enough points for a lower certificate, you can manually create one. Before I got Elite and started banking, I had mine set at $20, but created $5 and $10 ones if I needed to.

Haha I end up spending about $4000 at Best Buy each year. All movies, games, electronics, etc. I buy from there. Every so often a friend or two will use my account on Black Friday, though they still won't splurge. Outside of bills and necessities (like food and gas), I don't really spend money on anything else.

This year I'm not going to spend much at all. Not going for Elite Plus, and will be lucky to get Elite.

You buy a TV or a laptop you're already half way there. Add video games and maybe some iTunes gift cards and you made it.

Also use those 3x points coupons before big purchases. Got 1500 points just from my xbox one purchase.

I spend $130 or sometimes $180 a year at Best Buy. I rarely shop there. But speaking of Best Buy, they have a 30% trade in bonus this week.

30% trade in bonus? Do you have to be a Gamers Club Unlocked member to avail this offer?

Nope that's for everyone. They usually drop the values but the "bonus" helps a little for sure.

However if you're a GCU member you do get an additional 10% on trade-ins.

Before I became a GCU member at Best Buy I would buy games there once in a while, usually would snag them from Amazon because I would save on tax, but since joining I get every one at Best Buy now. The only "major" item I got there last year was an iPad, everything else was video games. So I basically bought roughly $1,100 or so of video games/movies and Amiibo's for my son.

I get some stuff on Amazon if it's a great deal (easier to just do that vs. Price Match BB), but I agree...I try for my 20% GCU discount, and I think I'm locked in for like 3 years lol, so it's great.

We still buy other stuff on Amazon you can't get at BB though, Amazon with Prime is still great IMO. Saves me a bunch of trips to the store over time.
