Where the console player base is little more in line with quick satisfaction.

This is not a knock on console gamers or anything that route its just I don't see the main geographic of console gamers able to enjoy what ARMA brings to the table.
I just dont see it not being to realistic for consoles. They can get away with not having controls to scratch your butt on the consoles. If they just get shooting mechanics down with the AI and vehicles it can succeed. Yes it will be a bare bones version compared to PC however if they pull it off it could have a very good following for it and I for one would play it a lot.

As for the controller, when I can play Arma 2 I use a controller because I cant stand the mouse and keyboard and it works just as fine for me.

I went on a ARMA 2 binge this weekend, literally playing almost all weekend. Downloaded like 30 coop missions and started on a new campaign.

Exactly. I play Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis on Xbox with a controller (it won't run well on my pc for some reason, which I don't get) and it's fine.

They don't need things like 3 separate buttons for changing stances, which just unnecessarily complicates things.

The problem is that most ppl who play military shooters on consoles aren't looking for a more realistic/complex game. They just want to hop on, run around and shoot stuff, without having to think about much at all and call it day, pretty much.

I wish they would come out with Arma 3 on consoles though, cause I know my pc won't be able to handle it, if it wouldn't run Arma 2 well.

Well with seeing PS4 stuff I hope they figure out a way. Even if it's just close to the PC version. Be better than most other shooters on Consoles.

I was thinking if Arma wanted too try consoles couldn't they do what Steel Battalion did and make a keyboard like controller with all the options? I mean the game could still be played with just a controller but if the player chose too they could get the keyboard and have all the commands the PC players have. Just a thought.

                  Re: ARMA III

ARMA III is now exclusive to Steam, some a brief FAQ from the announcement:

So, when will you release Arma 3 then?
                  a. "Soon" has become an overused word, but we are preparing all we need to unveil our plans right this moment.

Do I have to run the game through Steam?
                  a. Yes, it will be required to run the game through Steam. We do not believe in always-online types of DRM however, so Offline mode will be supported.

Will I be able to buy a boxed copy of Arma 3?
                  a. There will be boxed copies in most regions. These may either be Steam Codes in a retail package, or also contain DVD data (speeding up installation). You will still have to run and update through Steam the first time.

I don't want any of the benefits Steam brings me, so why should I care?
                  a. There was a very real chance there would be no Arma 3 this year otherwise.

                      Re: ARMA III

Video surprise on Monday and some new screens. I am seriously hyped.

I'll be releasing the first of my Arma3 videos on my Youtube channel this Monday, March 4th, at 6pm central standard time. It's been long in the making, and if you're planning to play the Arma3 alpha, you won't want to miss it! It's the first video of a new era - that of A3 ...

Can't find the Arma 2 thread on my phone but wanted to know if anyone has played the Wasteland mod? Sounds different enough from Day Z to be worth trying.

I read about it, but never had the desire to try it. I just been playing on the =7Cav= server of regular ARMA 2 domination.

I'll be honest, everyone knows I love ARMA more than any other shooter out there, BUT Bohemia is horrible at launch releases. They are always bug riddled the first couple months. I have done it with both ARMA 1 & 2, I wait around 3 to 6 months after release. This gives enough time for the patches to stabilize game and the community to create missions & mods.

So honestly no I'm not, I will just continue running ARMA 2 for several months after ARMA 3 release. I have over 100 user created missions downloaded so I have enough to play a different mission every day for 1/3rd of a year lol.

For servers I like these two

                              Realism Tactical
                              =7Cav= Server #1 & #2

                              Day Z
                              US 1505

That is the two I play on 99% of the time.
