    Re: ARMA III

Still ticking away at the single player campaign, two more missions done last night in Chapter 2. Ambush the Helicopter was pretty simple once I found a good vantage point to engage the 5 man patrol. 200 meter shots and easy pickings, then hid in a shed, told team to hold fire and stay put, threw out a smoke to call in helicopter as if I was the enemy, lastly a RPG to the side of the helo as he was making his landing decent.

Next mission I'm on now, I messed up not grabbing Night vision googles. It is 7:30 at start of mission with a good way trek until enemy contact so by the time I make it the darkness is creeping in to the point I can't make out contacts. It will still be possible to complete, I just unfortunately made it a lot harder on myself.

Really wish they'd have made Arma with more controller support.

      Thats life though

I use pinnacle game profiler which has infantry and vehicles mapped to a controller. And then I use a program called Articulate for voice commands and that pretty much covers everything.

23 there are 2 different programs you can install to use a 360 controller. Xpadder and Pinnacle. I have used both but I like xpadder out of the 2. Either one though will have profiles set up so all you would need to do is dl one and hop in arma. I use 360 controller to play arma3 and it makes the game more enjoyable.

23, learn the keyboard and mouse young padawan! Once you are proficient with K/M, you would never go back to a controller on PC unless it is a game that was designed for it (like Dark Souls Prepare to Die).

What am I talking about, we have discussed this before

Man I'm no pc nerd and I just prefer the controller better. It's a shame they gimp good games with either partial or no Co trolley support at all.

Also Arma 3 looks way better playing with squads than the campaign itself

It's disappointing that they were never able to come close to the greatness of the Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis & Resistance campaigns.

And yea, I like using a controller for action games myself. Using wasd to move your character around seems so prehistoric.

Never played that. I only played Red River and some of the one before that, but Arma is still a pretty massive game in itself.

Agreed, theres always certain games that just play easier with the controller. But kb/m is the only way for most pc games.

Bakan, you may be right as a traditional keyboard being "prehistoric "; but once you use 1 of these you will truly never go back

Theres even newer and better ones out there. The belkin is a little older but it more than gets the job done for sure.

Those games (Red River & Dragon Rising) were made by Codemasters and not Bohemia.

Suffice to say, they were not worthy of carrying the OFP name. The original OFP really was something special. I remember hearing about the campaign being recreated in the Arma 2 engine, but I could't run Arma 2, so I never really looked into it.

I still have Arma 2 but it became a chore trying to engage in a campaign fire fight with a controller so I stopped lol.

Always wanted to play a game like this with a bunch of guys.

Haven't done that since 16 man Co op on the old Xbox ghost recon

Ghost Recon 1, Rainbow Six: Raven Shield and previous R6 games, SWAT 3/4….all great tactical shooters along with Bohemia's games.

Sad that it's such a short list. And I thought CRPGs, horror, stealth were niche/neglected genres.
