Apex dev diary about the content and setting of Tanoa. Basically new factions, weapons, vehicles, uniforms, etc.

60 minutes worth of the Apex campaign. I never cared for Arma campaigns. I more excited for all the other stuff Apex brings, which is way more under the hood stuff that fixes a lot of nagging issues Arma 3 has had for years.Comment

Re: ARMA III
They really out did themselves with this DLC. Tanoa is drop dead gorgeous. The jungle areas are top notch well done. Like you can barely see up in there type of well down. Finally a proper jungle. The airports and runways are more detailed. The new weapons and vehicles look awesome.
That whole map just screams Vietnam type warfare. So all you need is some Vietnam units and you will be set. This map is PERFECT for that type of mission making. The AI still does Arma AI type of dumb things though. That is quite alright because VCOM AI updated his mod 2 days ago and it is 10 times better then what it was last year.I was playing with his mod all yesterday and it is hands down the best AI mod ever made.
Bohemia should hire that guy, seriously. He got the AI to use drones, static weapons and fire artillery support on their own. No scripts needed.Comment

Re: ARMA III
Totally forgot they added a spectator mode. No more writing scripts or using gcam mod to make a cinematic. Just hit spectator mode and you can follow anybody on the map.

Re: ARMA III
Tanoa is breathtaking.
I played the ALiVE Quick Start mission on there last night with Papernut and AuburnAlumni and man oh man, it's stunning and the sounds are out of this world. Paper and I came up on some settlements and the fog was so thick you could cut it with a knife.
It was glorious.Comment

Re: ARMA III
Tanoa is turning into one of my favorite maps in any game. It's that well done. The jungle is just amazing. I never feel completely safe in the jungle because of how dense it is. Fortunately the AI doesn't seem to have some ridiculous x-ray vision so it provides you cover as well. I love it. If only the game's optimization was done as well as the map.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

Re: ARMA III
Bohemia is dragging their feet with optimization because they simply have no competition. There is no other game out there that allows you to create missions, weapons, vehicles, units, maps, sound packs and AI brains like Arma. For 15 years they had this market to themselves.
Hopefully when Arma 4 comes out, it will be optimized since they will be using a new engine for Arma 4.Comment

Re: ARMA III
anyone know if a demo exists for this game?EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.Comment
