That's not even really a twist.

Re: Tales of Graces F (PS3)
Finished the main and future arcs. The future arc adds a lot to what is a simple and somewhat predictable story. It ends on a much better note and most of the skits are really great too.
Combat has always been this series staple, and that's no different with Graces. It's just awesome (I think the best yet). I don't miss free-run at all, which you can still do, but it costs CC and is otherwise pointless. I love the split artes - chaining different combinations of A-stlye into B-style to get different effects while maintaining your CC and keeping your crit guage up is the core. This battle system to me offers even more depth and experimentation than previous games. I like the subsystems too. Being able to cook in battle is great. In most other Tales games, you could only cook outside of battle and they required the necessary ingredients each time. In Graces, once you duelize some food, you just throw it into the mixer, assign a condition and once it's met, it's cooked and you gain the effects. Titles being the primary way you progress is a refreshing change, while before they were fairly meaningless.
The cast is solid and they grew on me as I got further. Malik and Pascal are still my favorites. Asbel is okay, but he's not a great lead character.
Things that were a bit disappointing:
- The world felt small, especially with all the backtracking.
- Battle music was lackluster. It seems all the good music was put behind a pay wall with DLC costumes.
- AI strategies have been watered down. What's there is fine, but previous Tales games have more depth to the strategies and shortcuts for the AI.
Definitely starting a New Game+ at some point to do all the stuff I missed. That bonus dungeon is no joke, I feel like my party needs to be in the hundreds.Last edited by Flawless; 04-20-2012, 02:33 PM.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

I also want to hit more of the present arc's post-game stuff too before going back to it.Comment
