Games I actually got so far

Skyrim
Madden 12, for all the things people complain I liked it after the patch.
NBA 2k12
MLB The Show
NCAA 12

I didn't like LA Noire and might pick up Batman AC soon along with WWE 12 depending what I hear about it. My roommate has MW3 but i've yet to really play a whole lot of it yet since a few of my good friends don't have it yet

I have yet to play Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, but I expect that to crack the top 5. I'll get Batman AC at Christmas and I'm sure it deserves top 5 as well but I didn't really think the first one was great.

NCAA 12 and Madden 12 - as much grief as they have gotten I find both games very enjoyable. They are the best versions of both games I have ever played. And yes they don't hold water to 2K11 and The Show but for football games it's all we got and they do the job for me.

1) Batman AC - As **** as Skyrim is, Batman deserves the GOTY
2) Skyrim - Truly my favorite game of the year. So much replay value
3) Battlefield 3 - Best shooter EVER!!! Multiplayer dream
4) Deus Ex - Fantastic stealth/action title!
5) DeadSpace 2 - They did it again with fantastic sound and good story

On a Sport front I found Madden pretty good and NCAA is good to just way to many bugs to be in any list. Now FIFA 12 in my opinion = horrible. I should of went PES route.

Disclaimer: I have not bought Skyrim yet, but it sounds amazing and will ultimately likely be my GOTY of 2011.

That said, among games I have played:

1. Forza 4...hands down. Amazing, perfect blend of fun, realism and unlockables/customization. Single player seems never ending, and I love the community/social networking leaderboard aspect of multiplayer. I haven't even gotten into much live multiplayer racing yet.

2. MW3. In my opinion, just enough tweaking of a formula that still works. Kill Confirmed is a brilliant fresh take on TDM.

3. Tiger Woods The Masters.

4. NHL 12

5. Fight Night Champions

Honorable Mention: Civ 5 was released in 2010 but really became a new game with the major patching that went on in '11. I played it a lot in 2011 and had a lot of fun with it.

Special Award for Best Love/Hate relationship:

Battlefield 3.

I can't figure out exactly what is wrong with BF3 for me. Maybe I should have gotten it for PC, so there were more people to fill up the dead spaces on the larger maps. Maybe the maps are just too large. Maybe I don't want my video games to be so gruelingly realistic. Maybe depending on other people's effort to ensure one's own fun is futile. I WANT BF3 to be amazing. I loved BF2, the Special Forces expansion, and even 2142; I even got kind of good at them.

BF3 either locks up/overheats my playstation, or I get on a team of a-hats who play whatever mode they are in as if its COD TDM, or I get in a conquest game where NOTHING happens for the whole match, because its only 8 on 8 on a vehicle focussed map and everyone is trying to learn to fly jets. Or something. Rush is the only mode where there is the right mix of intense action blended with tactical considerations, and even that is a crapshoot at best. I keep coming so close to trading this in.

I haven't played Uncharted yet, so that may crack the top 5 at some point.

Had a hard time debating between Skyrim and Batman. What broke the tie is that I'm 40 hours into Skyrim with millions of things left to do, and I'm even more excited to play this game than I was when I first started. That's never happened before.
