Finally got some solid play time in. One big complaint (and only one really) is that Ellie keeps running or standing up at bad times and we keep getting spotted.. I tell her butt to stay still..

The only thing I don't like about this game is that it's going to end.

Your companions dont aggro people. At least for me they dont. I had Ellie and others stand right in front of clickers and runners and nothing happened at all.

they do sometimes. i have also had Ellie give up our position and have the enemies come rushing at us.

now that i think about, Humans will spot her. the infected does not.

I think that's the intent (with infected...humans seem more "aware" of companions), but it seems to goof sometimes. I have seen them literally bump into an enemy and nothing happen and yet they may pass a bit to close, raise awareness and stuff goes nuts.

Nope, the devs themselves have stated that the enemy AI is completely unaware of the companions as long as you haven't been seen. If your companions seem to have been noticed, it's because you were spotted.

In the game, I had Ellie get trapped in another room while I was on the other side of a doorway waiting for (human) enemies to come to the doorway (2 were coming, so it was going to be a grab-shiv, then melee weapon). Well, as the first guy literally pushed past Ellie, as soon as his back was to her she pounced and knifed him in the neck, the guy walking right behind him does the "oh ****, they killed him" or whatever running to the body, past Ellie, and as soon as his back was to Ellie she pounced again and stabbed the dude.

As long as you aren't seen, the companions aren't seen.

in other news, just made it to Winter. i love this game!

During the tutorial missions in the beginning I had Tess get right up in one of the enemies faces and he bumped shoulders almost with her. Didn't pay her any mind. Went straight for me.

                    Then I choked him out.

                    Also, regarding Winter that...

Totally agree. Winter was a surprise and was easily my favorite part of the entire game. Naughty Dog are freaking masters!
