I think they also added Chris Kluwe as a hero character as well... ya know cause everyone loves punters

He's big into gaming and was (is?) hugely into this iteration of XCom. His Twitter feed for a while was all about the game when it was released.

Got back into this again and started up a new game.

Just got to my first terror mission, and within 2 turns, I was surrounded inside a building by two Chrysallids, two Floaters, and two zombies, one of which being one of my Support soldiers (RIP). On top of everything, I was basically out of ammo with everyone and in need of basically everyone reloading.

By some minor miracle, I came out of it without losing anyone else, and having only two of my soldiers minorly injured. I have NO clue how I managed it, as I thought I was in for a squad wipe. The first couple turns, I missed on several shots ranging from low hit chance to high (missed a freakin 94% chance hit with my sniper on a floater for crying out loud).

Never before have I been so happy to see the mission report screen pop up. It's amazing how intense this game can be. I was sweating bullets the whole mission.

God I hate Chrysallids.

Haha, great story.

I hate chrysalids too. I had a near squad-wipe my first encounter with them because I didn't know anything about them, and they are great at ambushing you in buildings on terror missions. Nice to not have to worry about the bites after you are armored up.

Yeah, I totally forgot how many "tiles" chrysallids can cover in one turn. You really have to work to take them out before they get to you, or you can kiss your soldier goodbye.

It's funny, as much as I want to play this game all the time, I can't. It's so emotionally draining that I can only manage one or two missions at a time.

iOS version got updated last night. Second Wave options were added (YES!), plus performance improvements for older devices.

they added some DLC , its called Slingshot, basically it adds 3 missions, a new character named Zhang and a slew of customization options for all characters.

I think its like 7 bucks.

Man let's hope so. I bought this game on a pure whim with no info whatsoever about the game, save what was written on the box...good gamble I'd say.

Has anyone given this a try on Impossible difficulty?

Go ahead and buy it. I've got a friend he hates turn based strategy games and I don't consider myself a fan of them either, but this game is exceptional. It's the strategy that happens away from the battlefield that sets it apart.

+1 on this. I am awful at strategy/rts games but this one is different. I played on the easiest settings and it was perfect for me. One of the 10 best games I have ever played.

I tried playing on the highest difficulty while I still had the game. That lasted all of one mission.

+2 i never play them either. something about this one in the previews really grabbed my attention, and once the reviews hit i knew i had to try it.
