Re: Medal of Honor: Warfighter Coming October 2012

    Phobia and Mercurial are spot-on.

The MoW Warfighter demo is a poor man's hybrid clone of CoD and Ghost Recon: Future Soldier. There's hardly anything in the demo that hasn't been seen or done before, and other games have done it better.

CoD has RUINED first-person shooters. There -- I said it. Great military FPS games started with the brilliance of Operation Flashpoint on the PC back in the late 1990s. That game was tactical and strategic, with huge maps. It was a refreshing counterpoint to the run-and-gun nature of Unreal Tournament and Quake.

The CoD franchise combined military shooters with the frenetic pacing and small maps of UT and Quake. But make no mistake -- CoD is nothing but UT or Quake with a military coat of paint and incredible theatrical presentation.

The best FPS games have been those with excitement AND tactics, such as the early Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon games and recent Battlefield games.

CoD doesn't deserve to be placed in the same pantheon with any of those titles. It's junk food. RS, GR and BF are fine cuisine.

PK you are missing out on one of my favorite shooters then. ARMA and ARMA2! I HIGHLY recommend ARMA2. I can't wait for ARMA 3

For those who are complaining about the graphics, they're using low res textures for the beta. You can't expect to have Frostbite 2 graphics in a 1.6GB file...

If I find the dev post on the forums, I'll post the link here.

Unfortunately, my laptop isn't powerful enough to run either ARMA. I have lusted after both of those games.

Wait. Does this game not have destructable environments. I figured with the same game we could expect something similar to BF3.

MoH: Warfighter has Close Quarters' micro destruction. To be quite honest, BF3 isn't that destructible.

The original Frostbite Engine and BC2 had much more destruction. There were even campaign trophies/achievments for destroying 1000 objects and destroying 50 buildings.

BF3 has better destruction in all of the expansion pack multi player maps, but generally speaking, it's nothing like BC2 was.

I agree 100%. Although I do enjoy playing the COD games with my Xbox live friends, I'd much rather be playing the Rainbow 6, Ghost Recon, or Battlefield games. I even enjoyed Frontlines Fuel of War, however 98% of the people on my friends list only want to play COD games.

Re: Medal of Honor: Warfighter Coming October 2012

For me, Call of Duty has turned into more of an "arcade shooter". I quit trying to compare it to other games, because it is a different type of game that caters to certain gamers. It still sells big, so obviously some people are still enjoying it. It's unfair for me to blame it for ruining anything, simply because I don't enjoy it. I actually enjoyed MW2 and Black Ops for at least a few months after release. Then I discovered Bad Company 2 and haven't looked back. It reminded me so much of my days playing BF: Modern Combat on PS2/360.

I'm over 300 hours deep into BF3's multiplayer and I still have a lot of fun with it. It's really hard for me to go back to playing COD games.

I'll probably rent this game for the Campaign, but I won't be buying it for the multiplayer. I played two rounds of the first PS3/360 MoH multiplayer and it only pissed me off.

Rainbow Six Vegas 1. The memories. I will still remember the time I discovered energy drinks and playing this game at the same time. Don't know if it was a placebo effect or what, but I owned Calypso Casino. I had wings.

I just want this game for the single player story line, I can careless about online play, so I'll wait for a price drop.

I'm getting it day one, I got $5 on it for the extra missions. Got a couple of friends I play COD with picking it up after playing the beta. Having two fire teams talking and working together is beastly.
I've heard this "patience is a virtue" junk all my life. I'm happy to say I have no virtue, no scruples, and no desire to wait too long for anything. In my humble opinion instant gratification takes too long!

I'm getting it. Really like the demo.

What are these extra missions you speak of?
