    Re: Assassin's Creed III

I am about 3 hours in so far and I am enjoying ACIII. I have seen a lot of hate for ACIII around the net including here so I hope that this game doesn't take a left turn for the worst for me. I was getting very sick of the previous games settings and Revelations felt like such a small world compared to where we were at in the previous games. I also enjoyed Revelations a lot too even though it was a small world.

The only thing so far is that the story feels a little convoluted here at the beginning, but I already think where this might be going.

This game almost feels like a total reboot, which was a good thing. But it didn't allow for the connections between the side missions and main story. Still think AC III is great game that built a new and better foundation that will take this series to the next level IMHO.

Not very far in, but the comedic part of life in this game is hilarious. Yesterday, Ben Franklin is telling me how to run game on older women. Golden.

I never played any of the prior games, so I have no standard for comparison. I'm also only fairly early into the life of Connor, so I can't say whether he is or is not an effective protagonist. He has a bit more depth than say, Samus at this point. :-P

However, for me so far this game is a strong recommend. I've told both my friends at work and my son that they should have this on their list to play. It passes the fun test for me, much more so than what I consider comparable games like GTA4 or RDR. Much like Skyrim, I find it fun to just wander around and see what happens. Story wise, I obviously haven't scratched the surface of the main plot. I was fortunate though to have avoided spoilers and missed the glaring spoiler in the character profile of Connor's mother, so how the prologue ended was a WHAAAAAATTT!?! moment for me.

I also really enjoy the multiplayer game. Its like a frantic version of where's waldo. It makes for a nice change of pace from Black Ops online, without having to resort to a sports game or PlantsvsZombies.

I have to disagree with this one part. There is little to nothing to do in the free roam portion of the game. This is what really disappointed me with AC3. In Red Dead Redemption and GTA IV there was always something going on outside of the main story. In RDR people try to rob you, people need your assistance, hunting was far better and the animals more of a threat. Cougars in RDR are deadly as are bears, but in AC3 (they've never done animals well look at the sad sack horses...ugh), outside of hunting which is a piece of cake thanks to QTE for the most dangerous creatures, there's nothing else happening in the world. I knew before hand that this would be the case though.

AC3 is still a good game even with it's flaws, but it wasn't the block buster I expected it to be.

1st DLC is here, it's basically just all the pre-order stuff combined.

exactly why I didn't bother with the the online pass...Ubi sucks when it comes to DLC.

                Joystiq
Hidden Secrets contains three extra missions including Lost Mayan Ruins, Ghost of War, and A Dangerous Secret, all of which featured in various pre-order bundles. The trio totals in at an hour of bonus gameplay, according to Ubisoft. The DLC also comes with Colonial Assassin and Captain of the Aquila costumes for single-player, as well as Redcoat and Sharpshooter characters for multiplayer.

Ubisoft also confirmed today the upcoming The Tyranny of King Washington campaign is split into three separate packs. An Assassin's Creed 3 online survey discovered last week suggested each pack is around two hours in length. Also now officially revealed is 'The Battle Hardened' pack, which includes new maps and characters for multiplayer.

Hidden Secrets, Battle Hardened, and the King Washington trio appear to make up the five packs announced as coming to Assassin's Creed 3. All five are unlocked via the game's Season Pass, available on Xbox Live Marketplace for 2400 MSP and PSN for $29.99.
They took one dlc and split it into 3 just like they did with AC2....shameful

That's going to be 3 separate dlcs (2 hours of playtime each)...I used to think EA and Cacpcom were bad with dlc, but Ubi has em beat. I'm starting to think they deliberately do this. They write the story and simply pick a section to leave out as dlc.

I never get AC season pass because I'm not interested in the multiplayer stuff and usually a couple dlc are mp only.

Well, AC II had the battle of Forli which was my favorite DLC in this series. Caterina Sforza is still one of my favorite characters in this series. Damn shame that they are breaking up the tyranny of George Washington. I really was looking forward to it, but I'm not paying 30 bucks for the season pass to get this.

It only happened to me once the whole game and it was an early cut scene involving the Captain of the ship sailing to Boston. Never happened again.
