How much closer do the Cities XL / XXL come to what we'd want from a true follow-up to the classics?

Cities XL was pretty to look at buy it was pretty hollow as a simulation, XXL looks identical to XL so im not expecting much. The game I have my eye on is Cites:Skylines. It looks like it could be very good. I am disappointed you can't terraform so some building end up looking wonky and civic buildings like airports are standalone buildings and not the module concept like in Simcity.

Honestly I still think the best hope for a real successor is still with EA. Simcity sold very well so I have to assume it will have a sequel. If Simcity had larger cities and was easy to mod like in SC4 I would still be playing it.

Ok .. SNOW DAY!!!

So getting into my real game today. Downloaded a few custom regions. Going with this one first I think..but checking out a few more first.

Word is out about Cities XXL and its overwhelmingly bad, most are calling it a $20 patch that not even a good patch.

Cities:Skyline is our only hope...

Disappointing to hear, I haven't played any of the Cities games and own the previous one so XXL is 'only' $20. Almost grabbed it the other day but passed for now.

Specifically the Emeryville studio. The studios that handles The Sims 4 is not affected.

So many memories playing Simcity, this is truly a end of a era. Not quite sure why this was done, it's not like Simcity was a flop(for a PC game it did pretty well). Looks like Cities:Skylines is our Obi-won now.

It might eventually, since I remember playing the Sims on the PS2 and Xbox 360. So it might eventually come out for the One and PS4. They don't ever sell well on consoles, but hey EA can afford the loss.

It's a great game. If you enjoyed sim city 4, you should buy it and check out the game thread.
