Jay how did you like combat? I'm struggling with it right now, but have just gotten out of the prologue I think.

Damn, anyone else struggling with the random acts of violence or whatever there called?

I'm having a hard time with moderate level, can't imagine how tough the hard and very hard will be... Jesus.

Granted I'm still early in the game, so my armor isnt very good and my guns are pretty weak.

I believe there are multiple endings and I want to say that there is at least one ending that ends the game early. Maybe that's what happened in your case.

Some things I did to help with combat:

          - Changed Weapon Sway option to on camera.
          - Increased horizontal sensitivity.
          - Turned Additive Camera Motions to off.

Since then it's felt so much better to me. That weapon sway was atrocious and the biggest problem I had. Headshots also seem to register much better with a sniper rifle so I usually have one equipped for medium to long engagements.

Thanks AU, will do that. If you don't mind, what kind of build are you running? Anything sticking out as particularly fun?

tbh I've kind of been assigning skill points arbitrarily.

I need to start paying more attention to that and crafting I guess.

                Re: Cyberpunk 2077

I read one reviewer indicate they finished the main story and all the additional missions (with the exception of two side missions that were bugged) on easy difficulty and it only took 47 hours. I was surprised it was that short compared to the Witcher games but maybe that has something to do with the reviewer playing on easy difficulty.

The game does seem to favour multiple play throughs with the three different starting paths and the ability to build characters differently with the wide variety of skills.

I know the flavour of the month seems to be a desire to make games shorter but I always enjoy massive -- even, yes, bloated games -- like Skyrim or the Witcher where you can play for like 300 hours. Those games just have a epic feel to them that I don't think shorter games capture.

Don't get me wrong, I'm enjoying it so far. I've enjoyed the characters and stories so far and the combat is far better than I was expecting. I though the combat was the weakest part of the Witcher 3 (I know those are fighting words).

It sounds from the review I read that easy difficulty or even normal difficulty isn't the way to go. The reviewer indicated he was wiping the floor with bad guys late in the game because of all the skills and weapons he had obtained. Even on the hard difficulty that I am playing on, I can perceive things might not be hard near the end with all the loot the game throws at you.

                  Re: Cyberpunk 2077

I am taking a “very slow play” type of approach. Really walking around and taking in each area. I am only 3 hours in and am enjoying the game a lot.

Still waiting for the lockdown to end so I can get out of the current area.

I am pretty happy early on I went the former Corpo path. So far this game has a great story and I am enjoying the characters I have met and interacted with thus far.

Going with a heavy Hack/stealth/sneak build.

I can see myself taking 60-70 hours (on normal) to complete the game at my current pace of play.

The devs said before rlease that the game was not going to touch the length of The Witcher 3. Their data suggested that too many players never even beat The Witcher 3, so their aim was to make a shorter game with more replayability this time around. To me, personally, 40+ hours sounds great. I've hit a point in my life where the sweet spot for me is 30-40 hours in SP games.

                      Same.

The Witcher 3 came out when I was still single and living in a barracks. I'm glad it did too because now I'm married with a wife and kids.. finding time to finish games is a chore sometimes and I usually can't play anything until 8pm.

I just finished Ghost of Tsushima and it was about the perfect length. I've also found myself wishing more games would take the linear approach again or at least a hybrid like Uncharted where it's linear, but there's some exploration too.

I then also found out about the different endings. That there are some, I knew, but I had expected something more like in witcher, that you determine the end with your decisions throughout the game.
I was just very surprised that you can complete the main mission so early.
The different endings are related to side missions, but you can skip them. The problem is somehow that the game already gives you too much freedom and hardly shows you a way to work your way through the city.

Then maybe I went into it with the wrong expectations. But for the fact that the game is labeled as an RPG, I would have preferred more.
I purposely didn't read that much about the game beforehand because I wanted to play without much hype or expectations. The problem is that the game hardly tells you how to do anything.
I was now level 27 with over 50 street credit because I did a lot of the police events. Before the last main quest, I had 30 or 40 side quests open all over the city and didn't know where to do what.

There are enough games that you can play through quickly.
I played through Witcher 3 three times, Blood and Wine twice in its entirety, and Hearts and Stones once.
As has been said here, such games feel epic. Skyrim I'll never forget either, I spent weeks in RDR2 as well. But games like that tell a real story, they're like a thick book that you can remember even years later.
Well, and this 40h story doesn't come close to that. And another problem is the German voice output. Witcher was great in that respect. In Cyberpunk, you can tell in almost every conversation that the speakers didn't record the dialogs together. The intonation of the characters doesn't fit all the time.
I'm going to change it to English now. But it's a real shame, because they did it so well in witcher. Ciri sounds even better in German imo, in English she sounds too grown up. (ok just now, googled for the voice actors. English: Susan Bennett, age 71. German: Katrin Heß, age 35 - could be because of that^^).

Fired up my new PC today excited to play Cyberpunk... aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand my RTX 3070 is total crap. Green lines all over the screen. I called ibuypower.com and spent the better part of five hours on the phone. I'm still in limbo on what exactly I should do but as it stands right now they're sending me another 3070 (which I seriously doubt they have in stock). They said it would be shipped out, "sometime next week." We'll see about that I suppose. The problem, as I tried to explain to them, was that I bought a ready-made PC with the 3070 in it and that these cards are exceptionally hard to find at the moment. So I'm very doubtful that they'll have one they can send me by next week. But regardless, now I'm thinking about just biting the bullet and buying a 3080 off of eBay.

Ugh, 2020 has already sucked enough. And now all this crap with Cyberpunk and then this... just can't catch a break.
