I never really got into AC. I tried it but it wasn't my cup of tea. WD is right up my alley. Being able to hack people and other users? That will ramp the intensity quite a bit. Reminds me of Demon/Dark Souls.

Still going to get Watch Dogs on release in case I decide to keep my PSS (All depends on how much it can be flipped for.)

My only reason for me to buy Watch Dogs on release is because of Best Buy's Reward Zone offer. I will get $10 back and I don't see it being cheaper than $50 around Christmas or shortly after.

Worst case I lose out on the $10 credit, receive a full refund because of the PS4 being sold.

I think things like this could detract a bit from the experience over time, as it becomes obvious where all the pieces were put together to create the illusion of control... I don't think this case in particular will though. Think it through... how would he shut off the TV? If it's not connected to wifi that leaves the power and the signal. If he cuts power to that store or that block then he can't buy from the gun store unless you can steal, and he can't hack the signal since it's presumably being broadcast from outside the grid he's hacked into.

My question is... the % likelihood of being the target of a crime and eventually the crime itself is also being monitored by the police, right? So if he let that crime happen, do the police eventually show up and work the scene? Does the victim get carted off or just despawn? We've seen a lot of cool events, I just wonder how they resolve during less-than-ideal actions.

Noticed a bit of pop-in during that video too (objects taking a moment to render once they enter field of view), looked like the PS4 version from the control scheme? Wonder if we'll see more or less in the other versions, certainly will become an easy basis for comparison.

It'll get REAL old if everytime you go into a gun shop they just so happen to air a breaking news report on you.

I get that it'll pay if people recognize you and decide to just overlook your criminal status if you're some kind of hero on the karma meter whatever. But I hope sometimes you can just uneventfully buy a freaking gun or three dozen.

It seemed to me - and I am speculating here - that the news report happened in real time. That you could conceivably be in and out before it even shows up, if it does.

And he also stepped into a store immediately after the gun show. So the timing makes sense. It's breaking news.

Again, I'm speculating here, but it really did seem organic in how it was presented. It really should be especially since that's what this game is pushing in terms of control.

Just so you know I wasn't posing the question to criticize the game I just thought based on footage I've seen that Aiden had the ability to temporarily disable electrical devices with his phone similar to Sam Fisher in Chaos Theory when he could screw with a light or cpu with his disrupter or whatever that device was. Not a big deal and maybe I misunderstood how the system works, just brainstorming
EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

Clever, but not a smart move.

You know the next GTA game Rockstar comes out with, they're going to do everything and everything (EDIT: don't know why I said "everything" twice lol) to counter a Watch Dog sequel with something like this... and next time it will be on an even-level playing field in terms of hardware limitations (or lack thereof).

I think it's pretty smart, actually. It's not like this was a shot at R* or anything. They simply used the popularity of a competitor to help promote their own game. They lose nothing (present or future) from doing it. If anything, it can be seen as a tip of the cap of sorts IMO.

Plus, at the same time it subtly both acknowledges the obvious similarities between the titles and points to the different experience Watch Dogs can offer ("hacking is our weapon").

I'm sure R* could (and probably will) offer some retort in the future if Watchdogs gains ground, but I don't think it would be anything more than friendly competition.

That would require the Houser's to recognize that another video game even exists. There's a 0% chance that Rockstar would ever counter. Even if Watch Dogs blows the socks off everyone GTA VI will be 10x more anticipated than Watch Dogs 2 (or considering how Ubisoft works Watch Dogs 4: Blackout)

Watch Dogs is 30FPS on PS4 & Xbox One

"Right now the frame rate we're focussing on [is] a steady 30[FPS]," said Morin speaking to us at Eurogamer Expo this afternoon. "There's always a balance, especially for open world, between the simulation and the rest.

"I think for where we are, the most important thing is the steadiness and [ensuring] that it's always capped the same so when you play it it feels right."
Despite confirming the frame rate, though, Morin could not confirm the game's native resolution on next-gen platforms, claiming that he didn't know whether the game would run at 720p or 1080p.

                                Re: Watch Dogs

I know some people don't care, but to me that kind of bites. I'm not sure if it's more because this game doesn't feature it, or because as a PS4 game it's not featuring it. As I heard before, their aim was to go for 60 FPS on all/most titles (don't know if that meant only for first-party games), but I really hoped that next-gen wouldn't just be a textural/lighting upgrade. I definitely expect less aliasing, but I was also really hoping for a framerate jump to 60 FPS for most games.

Makes me think I can hold back a little bit until they start making that happen, because I really think it will. This also lowers Watch Dogs a bit on my "must have" list as well, sad as it seems.
