If there is one thing the beta has taught me, it's that my BF skills are massively rusty.

Re: Battlefield 4
Not a fan of the whole menu system honestly. Love the addition of seeing what your squad members are seeing instead of blindly deploying into some MG trap only to have to respawn for a third time.
Voip. This alone is so very needed for anyone playing in hardcore where the cheesy things like map, red markers on enemies are gone. It was impossible in BF3 to set up any sort of plan since there was no voice chat and the chat was not optimal. Too many times have there been a squad setting up a trap or a tank in a really good hiding spot that we couldn't efficiently call out for others.
I like the lack of zoom so far on things like the red dot scope where there is no real magnification.
My major want/desire/need: Build it for the PC, port it over to the consoles so they can play it at whatever scale. I dont want to be forced to play smaller maps because consoles cant handle it while PCs can. The 50-50 % build they did for BF3 better not be a repeat.Aaron

Re: Battlefield 4
Played 2 1/2 games of Conquest on Xbox & here are my impressions from that very limited gameplay. Hit detection is definitely improved. The new controls are not really for me. You can switch to the "veteran" controls & that is almost the bf3 control scheme. I never found the spot button, I guess it is R2. I kept bringing up the menu by hitting select all night. I would have done a little better if I could have figured out all of the controls. This will take getting used to, even if u switch to more familiar control scheme.
I like the map, I just don't love conquest. I hate running so far to try to cap a flag. If someone is good with a helicopter they can dominate this map. There are a ton if different ways to attack each flag which I like. Choke points are less frequent on this map. The vehicles are fine, didn't spend much time in them. I'm definitely rusty although it's only been 2 or 3 weeks since I stopped playing bf3.
Really looking forward to getting this on PS4 & playing with all of the OSers. I think the 64 & 32 man games will be pretty awesome.

Re: Battlefield 4
My face after playing the Xbox 360 beta:
Spoiler
I've seen better textures in Nintendo 64 games. No joke.
Perfect Dark has more detailed textures than most of the buildings in this beta.
I guess I shouldn't have expected much detail for a 1.56 GB file, but man, this is tough to look at.Last edited by jyoung; 10-02-2013, 02:48 AM.Comment

Re: Battlefield 4
My thought after playing the beta.....
People are for reviews if it backs their argument, and against them when they don't.“I believe the game is designed to reward the ones who hit the hardest – If you can’t take it, you shouldn’t play!” Jack Lambert“Quarterbacks should wear dresses.” Jack LambertComment

Re: Battlefield 4
I toned down all my PC settings to high and 2x instead of 4x and it ran a million times better. Not great 30-40 fps but very much playable. For being day 1 of the beta, I'm really not too concerned. I have every confidence all the optimization and server lag will be sorted out in a month.
I managed to take down a full chopper with an RPG and that was the most gratifying thing I've done video game wise in a while.

Re: Battlefield 4
This is a question to you PC guys. Do the elevators move in real time? On the Xbox version when the doors close it makes sound but you can clearly see HUD icons aren't moving than suddenly you are teleported to the upper level.PSN: KMRBlue1027

Re: Battlefield 4
Well even with some limited beta time I can safely say I'm very much looking forward to the completed game, especially the upgrade on PS4.
The controls are whacky different and that had me all messed up. It's a new learning curve and I'm fine with that, just takes getting used to. I keep hitting select to spot guys and the damn battlelog menu comes up.
R2 tap is now spot, while holding R2 lets you issue commands or other orders/acknowledgments. It's actually a nice little feature, but as long as you're using a mic it probably doesn't serve much purpose.
There are some weird things going on, like stunted animations, no names, definite lag, frame-rate drops, etc. I think my sound cut out a couple times, as well. For the final version I expect much of this to be polished.
I was on the building in the center when it fell the first time - attempted to jump off only to have debris crush me anyway. It is pretty epic. Can't wait to utilize the full level of destructibility. There are also quite a few little things on the map that are nice, like raising barriers to prevent vehicles from rolling wherever they like.
Ambient sound is great. Bass rocks hard. A little sad no elevator music.SLIDERS SUCKComment

Re: Battlefield 4
Going to get some time in here in a few. I'm not overly concerned with most of the reported issues. The BF3 beta had a lot of problems too.
I think it just gives us a small taste of some new features.. too bad I can't play a PS4 buildComment

Re: Battlefield 4
My days of being a pretty good Battlefield heli pilot may be numbered.
These controls are whack.. lol. I kind of like acceleration/deceleration on the left stick, but I need to be able to invert my right stick or I'll never be able to aim.
Played one gamee and finished 9-7 with about 4500 points. So far It seems pretty cool, but also a bit sluggish. I can't wait to see it in action on a new consoleLast edited by AUChase; 10-02-2013, 01:19 PM.Comment
