    Bioware co-founders step down

Greg Zeschuk and Ray Musyka both leaving the company as of this morning.

Dragon Age 2 bombing, The Old Republic being a disappointment, Mass Effect 3 ending snafu, EA opening up other "Bioware" studios. RIP to the Bioware we all knew? Although based on the past few years the old Bioware was pretty much dead anyway.

I don't think it's RIP to anything. It sucks that they're leaving but they haven't been directly involved with Bioware games in awhile.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

Somewhat. It does suck to see such smart people in the gaming industry leave, but I think all the items Sandman listed just made Bioware turn downhill a bit.

I don't think Bioware was like "old Bioware" anymore, but not in a bad way. Those small studios just grow up, it's natural.

Some liked it but a lot of the die hard DA fans hated it.

I dunno, SWTOR is pretty good IMO and ME3 was an absolute masterpiece except for the ending.

Compared to Origins, DA 2 was a dog with fleas.

Well, the main issue at the core of the issue is money. SWTOR cost over 300m to make, will not even come remotely to breaking even, had the resources of over 5 different studios tied up over the years in making it, and cost them about 50% of their employees to lose their jobs.

ME3, while it sold very well, didnt not even come close to hitting the projected profit goals.

I guess EA and Bioware learned that just tacking on a 4-player multiplayer doesn't instantly gain a casual market.

If I was projecting the sales they would be right where I would expect. Mostly previous Mass Effect fans would return to this game, it's not like CoD, for example, where nobody needs previous games to understand multiplayer or campaign.

Games like Mass Effect are going to have their 3-5 million strong fanbase, and unless they change the game from what it's supposed to be it'll always stay that way.

                  Just my 2 cents.

Bioware hasn't made a good real deal RPG since Baldurs Gate 2. (with the help of Black Isle)

Not saying those other games are terrible or anything. More like 'good for what they are' I guess.

Sad day for the gaming industry. Neverwinter Nights 1 and DA: O were 2 of my favorite games of all time.

No one has made an RPG like Baldur's Gate in a long time and I'm really tired of these "purists" determining what is or isn't a "real rpg".

Sorry, I grew up in the 80's and 90's, when the gameplay was about tactics (actually having to think during combat), skill checks and dice rolls. Not about jumping into the game, following your quest compass, and mashing the awesome button until your covered in a pile of bs achievements.

In the last 10 or so years, they haven't really been RPGs . Only action games with RPG 'elements'/cinematic experiences/hiking/LARPing simulators and romanceable elf butt-sex.

Lmao, ok. Having everything limited by stats doesn't make anything an RPG nor does it mean that a game where you hit the things you aim at rather than missing because the dice roll makes you miss, lacks tactics.

Dragon Age: Origins involved using a lot of tactics.

And if a dice roll is what makes a "real" RPG, thank god we have whatever you call today's RPG's, because that's terrible, lmao.

I fail to see how Mass Effect has an "awesome button," along with Dark Souls, Skyrim, Fallout 3, KOTOR and pretty much every other RPG that has been released in the last decade.
