A level requirement is kind of dumb though. I won't be to a level 26 by the time the week is up so I feel cheated that I cannot participate in a part of the game.

Re: Destiny
So the people who spend the most amount of the time with the game anyway get to participate in a more exclusive game mode? Seems counter productive for getting people to play the game. I have no more sense of urgency to play this game now, than before, when I knew of no level requirement. I am sure there are others who feel that way too.Last edited by JBH3; 09-15-2014, 09:18 PM.Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment

Re: Destiny
Bungie has said it's not a requirement. It's more of a suggestion. The Vault can be entered at any level but I wish luck to anybody who attempts it.
It's also not a timed event. It'll be there forever. Your progress in the Vault is reset every week but the raid doesn't go away.Oakland Athletics San Jose Sharks

Re: Destiny
Lvl 26 and higher enemies. They would most likely destroy you.
Actually go to the entrance of the vault of glass on Venus and see if you can destroy the guards. I was lvl 21 at the time and they were imune to all my damage.
Also my friends lucky *** got a exotic bounty tonight. So pissed, lol. For those of you that don't know it's a bounty that you randomly get when you complete bounties that make you participate in multiple things and unlock a exotic for you. He first had to complete the weekly heroic strike and now has to complete 25 bounties. I'm Pretty sure there's more after that as well to do.PS4 Twitch: http://www.twitch.tv/candyman5os

Re: Destiny
It's a raid. In an MMO.So the people who spend the most amount of the time with the game anyway get to participate in a more exclusive game mode? You know what the percentage of people are that complete the heroic raids in World of Warcraft?
That game has a population of ~8-10 million.
There was a sample of 2.2 million players, 4 months after a piece of content was released. Out of that 2.2 million players (not characters) sample... 0.23% of that had killed the final boss of that heroic raid. That content has been out for... almost a year now.
I'd be surprised if 25% of the people have seen it in that year.
That's just how MMOs work. Not all content is for everyone. End-game stuff is for people who both are "good" at the game and have time to devote to it.badComment

Serious question: wouldn't this be THE reason to have a sense of urgency to play this game?So the people who spend the most amount of the time with the game anyway get to participate in a more exclusive game mode? Bungie has said from the beginning the game "doesn't start" until 20+. The whole point is to get to the max levels in order to play these things. And with the speed in which you level, shouldn't take long.
I'm only level 11, but I've only had a few hours to play. Regardless I'm not rushing to get to 20 because all this stuff and more will be there whenever it is I get there. And to me that is the beauty of this game.Comment

Re: Destiny
The end-game in Destiny is actually fairly accessible compared to other MMO games. I've likely played less than 20 hours and hit level 20 today. Now I'm not sure how fast leveling is beyond 20, but to reach the "soft" level cap that quickly is pretty unusual for this sort of game. They've really made Destiny an MMO that is open to a much larger audience than most.
And as already said, the Vault is a permanent addition. It won't go away, so whenever you get to 26, it will be ready.Comment

Re: Destiny
It's fine, and don't worry about not hitting lvl 26 this week. The raid is there forever just progress resets every week for the raid like the weekly strikes and such. I know I, ubernoob and others know a lot about MMO's and such so just feel free to ask questions.
Imo bungie has done a great job with the launch of this so far. As long as the support for it remains good (which I don't see it wont) there will be extremely better things to come.PS4 Twitch: http://www.twitch.tv/candyman5os

My main thing is I think Bungie may have dropped the ball a little bit when it comes to the explanation of things a bit, which leads to confused/being upset like JBH. It's natural.
Console gamers aren't used to MMOs, and the... 'mindset' behind them. Which, I think there's plenty of issues to be had with the current state of MMOs but that's neither here nor there.
They did an absolutely bang-up job of translating mechanics of MMOs to a console shooter. Strikes are basically your dungeons. The quests (missions) themselves are pretty terrible (go here, defend Dinklage-bot, rinse and repeat) but the seamless transition from "open" world to instanced area is great. They just need a way to let people know what type of thing they are getting themselves into.
I'd say it's a caveat emptor situation, but if it's something new (which this game most certainly is, there's not anything really like it on the market)... both Bungie and 'journalists' needed to do a better job explaining things.badComment

Re: Destiny
Also guys, make sure once you join the OS clan to select either the "Join Xbox Clan" or "Join Playstation Clan". If you don't it doesn't really put you anywhere. I noticed we have about 20ish in the clan but only about 7 that chose a platform.
