Re: Destiny
That's what I'm trying to explain, higher level weapons & armor often have upgrades and those do count. But actual damage model on weapons and armor rating (not the bonuses, those count) really means nada.So the Defense ratings on armor and Impact ratings on weapons don't have any impact?
Why does it take so many more shots to kill a higher level player then? When I was first starting out, I could sneak up behind a level 22 guy and put an entire round squarely into his back and he'd just turn around and kill me in one shot and he'd still almost be at full health, but that isn't nearly the case anymore now that I'm at a higher level and have better guns and armor.
And what about armor that has a +44 strength or intellect or something like that? Does that matter at all online, or can I pretty much just wear whatever armor I think looks the best?
There are abilities as well that obviously make a difference as those can't be balanced out. Titans ability to get a shield when sprinting comes to mind.
You want the weapons with a larger upgrade tree on them since those modifiers count. Same as armor, the plus strength, intellect, etc do count. But actual armor rating & weapon damage are evened out in pvp.
At least that's how I understand it. Look it up though, I'm at work on my phone. If you find something that says otherwise, post it.Comment

Re: Destiny
Just got kicked out of Destiny on some server reboot right at the end of a mission. Now I get to start it all over! What a pain haha.
Edit - nevermind; despite the reboot, our progress was saved on the mission. Really glad they included that feature.Last edited by jwilphl; 09-15-2014, 12:58 PM.Comment

Started a strike and see that there are additional levels of difficulties. Level 28 is listed. Didn't see that before not sure if it was already there.Comment

Re: Destiny
A bit of a better explanation than mine. But pretty much what I was saying.
What doesn't carry over (becomes a normalized amount)
Base defenseBase weapon attack
What does carry over
Weapon progression (including damage bonuses)Armor progression (Including Defense bonuses)AbilitiesCharacter progression (stat upgrades)
This means that even though they are on relatively equal starting ground. A Level 20+*will*have an advantage over a level 5, but not so much that the low level doesn't stand a chance.
That is what I have, a blue Shingen E. I only use it for pvp, I built up all the upgrades on it by using it on strikes, patrols, etc. This also means that a low level weapon that handles well and has nice upgrades can still be really really good in PvP even if it's too low level for you in PvE.
Generally yes, but higher level weapons have more things to upgrade on them, most low levels have their special ability (most of the time just one), and a single damage upgrade. Level 20 gear has much more potential
Very true as well. Just wanted to point out that a level 10 blue weapon*might*be preferable in PvP to a level 20 green. But that's largely going to be dependent on play style and luck in drops as well.
Good point, I'm currently using a rare level 12 Shingen-E for PvP and then the highest damage for PvE. Has nice control and quite a few upgrades.Comment

Re: Destiny
Yeah Glass Vault is tomorrow, even though some people found a way to sneak in there already, so this update is probably for the Glass Vault.Comment
