Got the Obsidian Mind helm the other day. I haven't leveled it much yet, but it looks to be killer for PvP.

Getting a PS4 Crota group together for later in the week (thursday+ I guess). I don't really care what day, so if interested post what days/times you might be available and we'll work out the first six that overlap.

ran Crota raid in about 37 minutes. got only shards/energy.

I know those feels. Beat Crota and got 2 shards. I can't even remember what we got for beating Atheon on normal, but it had to be more than that.

Rahool granted me an Obsidian from a helmet engram (those purchased from Xur). I haven't leveled it up or tooled around with it yet, but it does seem pretty decent for voidwalkers.

It's a random drop from blades of crota, easiest way is just to load the fist of crota mission, run to blade at the beginning, kill, then if you don't get it go to orbit and try again. Took me maybe 20 minutes to get it to drop, but it is rng so that will vary.

"Feeding" it requires killing Hive, someone on reddit said it took over 400 kills on the first moon mission, I just killed the yellow hive trio in the cosmodrome about 20 times or so. Now I just need Eris level 3, should take about 3 days.

Is it me or do all of the new Auto Rifles have high RoF and low impact? I much prefer the lower RoF, higher impact (i.e. Shadow Price & Suros) so it looks like I'll be moving away from ARs for PVE.

Wow did I have a productive night last night! Completed the Nightfall and:


- finally unlocked the achievements for "Vanguard Honor" & "Suited for War",
- received an exotic bounty "A Mournful Gun",
- had a blue decoherent engram retrieve a purple chestplate (Raku Vindicator),
- on the nightfall I completed received the legendary rocket launcher "Admonisher III".

I'm the same way. I got the Payback SOS from a purple engram and I hate it. Need a new legendary primary so I can switch with exotics.

Man, I'm so up and down with this game. I think I'm finally starting to grow weary of the grind. Yet another completely useless waste of 90 minutes this morning doing the Vault on hard, only to see three of my buddies get a third Fatebringer and one guy to get another Mythoclast, and I've yet to receive either despite raiding as much as these guys. To top it off, I got the same crappy shotgun from BOTH Nightfalls, while my buddy got the Glass House exotic Titan helm and the upgraded Gjallarhorn.

I'm starting to realize that unless I stop hanging out with my wife and kids, I'll never really be top of the food chain with this game. I get that the game is meant to work like that, but man...I don't know. I still have a blast playing, but the fun is slowly turning into an irritation when I frequently receive absolutely nothing for rewards.

I don't even know if not hanging with your wife and kids will change anything to be honest. I have a buddy who has significantly less time than me in terms of hours played and he got Gjallarhorn last night.

The randomness is the ****ing worst. I am weary of the grind too but like a crack addict I keep coming back for more. Always more. Always always more.

The only reason I keep playing Destiny is to 100% the achievements, and this is a grind I am debating since having to start a Warlock and Titan to fully upgrade those classes is a grind I don't know that I want to embark on.


I am very annoyed by the randomness of everything too which is why my strategy is to bide time in finding those pieces of gear which provide the exact benefits I want to fit my play style. For instance, I want to have a pulse rifle primary (Red Death) and a Legendary Sniper as my secondary so I want my gear to stack to those abilities; i.e. more ammo for each weapon etc. So my goal is to build the rep needed to acquire those pieces of gear from whichever vendor has it.




Honestly, the most fun I have with this game is when you get one of those "showers" where you're on a patrol and wave after wave comes after you for 10 minutes. This game NEEDS a straight up horde mode! I don't want to have to complete little objectives like in VoG, I just want to point & shoot at an endless wave of enemies.


....I also REALLY need for my ship to be something other than a cosmetic item. I want to fly that thing so bad and upgrade it. This game misses so many opportunities to be great.


For instance last night I got a choice of 3 exotic bounties. I picked the one which states "A Hunter heard voices coming from a loot cache on Mars", since I am (a) a Hunter, and (b) it sounded like a cool adventure I picked the "A Voice in the Wilderness" bounty....


But there was no adventure, after a couple of loot caches I open one and find a note that tells me to take this gun to the gunsmith on the tower. There could've been an awesome cut scene here, & the cache could've actually had voices coming from it which it didn't but it was nothing special despite the fact that its supposed to be an "EXOTIC" bounty.

Once you get it to a purple it should be pretty nice. To get it to exotic requires beating CE on HM. Not even sure I'd want it as an exotic. Unless the bonus perks are godly that is.
