      Re: Dark Souls II

Started a 2nd playthrough using a sorcerer. Definitely a change having no shield and a dagger at the start instead of a longsword. Leveled up my strength/dex enough to use the Fire Longsword for now, and I may just leave it there and focus on Attunement, Int/Faith. The Last Giant felt like easy mode using Great Soul Arrow on him, took him down in 20 seconds without him getting close to me.

Also funny looking back how much trouble I had with the Pursuer when the game first came out. Just rolled through all his attacks and Soul Arrowed him. Don't know how viable a straight up caster will be later in the game since I'm going to stick to robes, but right now I'm mowing through the early game.

        Dark Souls II

I respecced to a pure caster in ng+ for awhile and you just destroy everyone in pvp and pve. I had 50 attunement, 50 intelligence, 30 faith (was gonna go higher, but seemed like dark bonus barely went up), and the rest in adaptability.

There isn't any enemies resistant to magic except for those lion guys in the shaded ruins. Those guys die quickly by backstabbing them repeatedly with the dagger you start with though.

You can dispose of bosses within seconds with your power spells. As for pvp, it's fairly easy to win especially with the lag. If they do manage to roll away even with lag, you just have to mix it up and bait them into a roll.

I might try out a different build though, this playstyle just isn't for me. It gets really easy once you start using spells found later in the game, but there's no way I'm restricting myself to using weaker spells.

I'm in my second run of the game and breezed through the first half with magic. The second half is giving me fits, however. Magic is basically useless against multiple enemies (not much splash damage), and the weapons are outgrown at this point.

          Any tips?

What enemies in particular? I seemed to alternate between soul arrows and dark orb and found it only took 2 or 3 to kill one. You might have to keep backing up and bait them into an attack before you fire off your spells in quick succession. The only guys I found to struggle with just pure magic are the guys in the shade ruins. You have to either run by them or backstab them.

Maybe it's a side effect of using the Clubs, but now with the Mastodon Greatsword, I realize the plus of having a weapon that can put up 1k+ damage in just under a full stamina bar. I might switch my strength build to a DEX one(even if Dex scales crappy) and use some of the Katanas.

The enemies in the castle gave me a particularly hard time because there is no way to lure them one at a time. I eventually made it through the area.

One trick a lot of people are using is to use a Mundane stone on a dex weapon, even out your stats (Mundane scales with your lowest stat) and you get insane scaling on dex weapons.

I'm going to reset my stats when I get to NG+ (I'm just not good enough as a mage) to probably do a Dex/Faith build or Strength/Faith build.

They do come in groups but it's usually 2 maybe 3. Just kite them as usual and get your spells off. The stone soldiers you can attack and kill before they fully stand up to come after you. A couple of those archers are a little tougher, but you just had to cast a spell and hide behind something afterwards.

Ahhh that was another area I had problems with. When you drop into the pit, I got swarmed
