PC or PS4? Depends on your rig, I guess. I have the PS4 version, which is stunning. And although the framerate is more stable after 1.03, it definitely gets choked when in the bogs in Velen and in Novigrad. Especially when it's raining and nighttime in both places.

So if you're sensitive to that, I'd say PC. Assuming you have a good setup. Again, I'm happy as a consoler.

As for it having to be online? No. Not at least on PS4 or Xbox that I'm aware of.

Yes, it can be played offline.

As far as PC or PS4. In my opinion, it's personal preference. Both are the same game. Both have advantages and disadvantages that the platform itself brings. If you own both then you know what those are and its your choice of which one you want to play this masterpiece on.

Sorry if that's not the answer you were looking for, but I think with this generation of consoles that's what all the PC or Console choice comes down to.

So I have an active side quest right now, think it's called Dirty Funds or something like that. It tells me to read the letter that Geralt found but it does not appear to be in my inventory. I have read every book and letter in my inventory and can't get past the current task. I don't think I disposed of the letter. Any ideas or am I missing something very obvious? Lol

Have you checked the inventory tab that carries quest items? Not the one with all the other books and scrolls in it.

This is actually one of the glitched quests. I think there's a bug where you need to read the letter BEFORE looting the area.

Give me a sec to see if I can track down the workaround. BRB.

I still have the glitched quest. The white orchard abandoned site one and the person in distress one in velen. None are working right for me.

Also as for PC vs Console I say either right now but PC down the line. Should be some incredible mods released.

OK cool, thanks for looking in to it!

I do recall seeing that quest pop up on my screen after finding a letter but I continued looting the area like a MOFO afterward, lol...... I am 100% positive that I did not try to read it until much later, maybe an or two.

Here is a link to the discussion about it on CDPR's official forums. Please note that a Dev stated in this thread that it will be fixed, but obviously, no one could guarantee that you'll be able to actually complete it with a patch if you've already "passed" that section. I'd suggest loading an older save before you started the mission and follow this video to do it "correctly."

Basically, I guess you are supposed to find the letter first, then use it to find the bandit camp. Doing it the other way around breaks the quest.

One user says you can clear the quest form your log by finding "The Tamarian Gold" but when asked where that was he never responded, so I can't confirm that even exists, let alone works.

I'm not sure what White Orchard quest you're talking about is, but if by the one in Velen you mean not being able to find the key for the prisoner, this is a known bug with no workaround.

It's in Velen and happened to me. A prisoner was being held in a bandit camp. I can't remember it's exact location but a quick internet search says it's "just south of the Pontar and north of the Hanged Man's Tree."

Basically, I think I fought the bandits too far away from their zone. Like, we wandered quite a ways into the woods. Once I killed them and looted the bodies, none of them had the key to unlock the prisoner (which they were supposed to have).

Apparently, going back to the site later, the cage then becomes empty but it is still locked so you can never actually free him once you leave the area. And again, the key never spawns for some people.

It doesn't bother me because this is an optional bandit camp with really no important plot points. Just annoying, basically. Not a game breaker.

Apparently, that man is a merchant. Just wondering what he has. If he has Gwent card(s) that aren't available anywhere else, I'll be pissed.

As well as the person in distress glitch I have the dirty funds glitch as well. I had the letter in my inventory, the problem seemed to be it went under my regular useable items and not quest times,

It was just a level 2 quest so I moved on. Hopefully in my second time they the game the bugs will be patched.

As for the PC/PS4 question, I recommend going PC if your machine can run the game on medium/High comfortably. I don't regret going ps4, it's the best game I've played on ps4 for sure, but I would go PC if I had a do over mostly because of the instant patching and mod community

Decided to restart shortly after making my way out of White Orchard. What a difference a second time through there has made. Everything other than basic combat was a little too overwhelming at first for an RPG novice like myself. Now, everything clicked and far less edible items were used to stay alive. Going into fights swinging without using magic senses took a toll on inventory. Combat also becomes way more fun when your not just swinging a sword.

I'm enjoying the game a lot. Hard to put down at times. Eyes become heavy at night but I need to know what loot is waiting at the next underscored question mark. lol
