Re: The Witcher 3
Each session I start off with the intention of actually making progress in the main quests and relevant side quests, but then distractions continue to pop up and I manage to only do a fraction of what I originally intended.
Traveling from Downwarren to Midcopse I decided to take the southern loop which takes you beneath the Bald Mountain, west through Olena's Grove, Frischlow, and Byway, and north through Duen Hen into Midcopse. My intention was to meet up with Keira to see what extra work she had for me after completing the Swamp Thing Contract
Of course any ? within reasonable distance of my path was taken up. Monster nests that needed clearing (particularly a Drowner nest on an island not much bigger than the nest itself - great loot there), guarded treasure to pluck, abandoned sites to free, and bandit camps to clear out. Along the way I completed the Defender of Faith quest after happening upon a group of vandals and beating them senseless with my fists. I traded with small-time merchants and took their best Gwent cards. Sold excess materials to herbalists and smithies. I eventually ended up at Keira's doorstep about 3 hours after I started on my journey.SpoilerI gave the guy a week to come up with the money - he better be good for it.
Its amazing how big the world is yet it never feels empty.
Friends With Benefits (Towerful of Mice):
SpoilerThe first quest in order to get in Keira's trousers was pretty fun and it continues to astound me how deep and interesting all these side quests are. They really put other open world games to shame. Anyway, I sailed to Fyke Isle with my magic lamp and uncovered a pretty unsettling story about famished villagers demanding food and taking lives as retribution. Entering the tower and continuing up from the basement to the top level was creepy as the tower featured several classic traits of a ghost story - knocks on a door, swinging lights, items moving. Annabelle, the daughter of the former lord of Crow's Perch, appeared and relayed her truly terrible demise to me. While I felt sympathy for this specter her story felt incomplete and upon voicing my suspensions she revealed her true self to me.
Wanting to break the curse I traveled across the bay to Oreton to inform Graham about the death of his love, Annabelle. He felt compelled to help me lift the curse in order to prove to Annabelle he truly loved her (even though the ordeal can be laid at his feet). Up to the top of the tower we climb where Annabelle and Graham embrace and kiss. The curse is lifted, Graham dies because of the embrace, and I report my findings to Keira.
After a short investigation on the whereabouts of Keira's shipment from Novigrad (and apparently nobody caring about the dead driver) she surprises Geralt with a date night. During dinner Geralt lets it slip about the mage Alexander's research notes still in the tower on Fyke Isle. He can see the gears in her head start turning. In the meantime they make good on the Friends With Benefits title and consummate their friendship.
After waking up from Keira's sleeping spell Geralt is a little mad because he obviously wanted seconds, but Keira had formulated an escape from Midcopse and a return to glory for herself. I immediately acquire a boat from Oreton and skip across the bay to Fyke Isle and return to the tower. Stepping out of the tower's door is where I catch Keira and confront her about the notes. I am understanding of her reasoning, but also caution her about the gullibility of her plan and the possibility of weaponized bacteria. Offering Keira an escape to Kaer Morhen as an alternative to her plan she accepts and we bid our farewells.

Re: The Witcher 3
So there's this locked home with a guy named Gitzlaf or something like that sitting outside on a bench. It's close to the abandoned village that has the well. When I try the door it tells me it's locked and that I need a key. I walked around the house and all the yellow highlighted loot inside is making me froth at the mouth, lol
I spent at least two hours last night scouring the area nearby for loot, for anything that turn up said key, NOPE! I seriously need to stay the freak away from that house because it is quickly becoming an unhealthy obsession for me, hahaha
Oh yeah, talking to the guy only gets very abrupt banter from him, no full blown conversation.XBL Gamertag: hoos4974

Re: The Witcher 3
(PC) Last night I completed a couple of story quests. I didn't get any XP for completing The Pyres of Novigrad. I was looking for it and listening for that satisfying jungle it makes when you gain XP after a mission. I am level 13 the quest was level 10.
I ended up wandering into the local tavern and took on the Fist Fighter. I got 25 XP after that match. So it's a little random.
I hope a patch or hotfix drops today. I want to binge play this game tomorrow. If not I may just have to console codes some levels.Comment

Re: The Witcher 3
For me, I'm just going to keep going along even if I miss out on some XP. As long as I'm still leveling up at a fair rate as I go along, I'm OK with it. If it gets to a point where I'm not, then I'll put it down. Game is just too much fun to stop playing at this moment.
Plus, I leave Sunday morning for a work trip, so I need to get my fix in while I can tonight and tomorrow...Comment

Yeah I feel the same way. I am still a decent level considering it seems like I have a long way to go with the story. For me, I'm just going to keep going along even if I miss out on some XP. I figure with DLC missions, expansion packs (I have the season pass), there will be plenty of opportunity to get any lost XP back and max level.
It bugs me a little bit but I still play on"Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

Re: The Witcher 3
I'm still at level 6. I can't wait to get up a bit more so I can take on a couple of the new crazy beats I've seen.
There are about 4 spots on the map where I've seen what was there, its level, and then went "nope" and booked it out of there.Comment

Re: The Witcher 3
That's pretty much my plan. Any time I have to play this game, I'm playing this game, glitches or not. If I don't get XP for completing a mission, I'll just wait til a proper walkthrough, listing how much XP you should get from certain quests comes out, and I'll use the console.(PC) Last night I completed a couple of story quests. Re: The Witcher 3
Also, did everyone get the crystal raven skull in White Orchard? It's on the ground in the opening area where the game begins (where Vesemir and Geralt talk about Yennefer's letter) and you have the first fight with those ghouls. It obviously has some significance to the story because it's a quest item but I haven't advanced the story far enough to find out what it is yet.XBL GT: The Kingpin187Comment
